| Is my yorkie sleeping too much? This may be a stupid question but I'm a new yorkie mom/constant worrier. How much does a puppy normally sleep?? Lilly is almost 5 months old (On the 18th), she is eating/drinking normally (she's my lil piggy) and I belive that her transition to my home has gone fantastically. But I've noticed that she sleeps ALOT. Usually we'll get up at 7 or 8 a.m. (whenever she's ready ) I feed her breakfast (1 heaping tablespoon of wet puppy food, some kibble sprinkled on top and maybe some cottage cheese) she'll beat up her toys for awhile ( an hour or so) then she'll crawl into my lap for a nap. She'll nap on and off until 1 or 2 then she'll eat some kibble for lunch and play around for a couple of hours eat her Dinner at 5 or 5:30 pm, play until 8 or so..fall asleep again until 10..play then goto sleep around 11:30 and she will sleep throughout the night. She'll get up at 4 or so in the a.m. play for like 15 minutes (and see that I'm really not into it ) then fall asleep again. Is that too much sleep? Her pooping a peeing are normal..she doesn't throw up. When she's playing she is QUITE energetic and crazy I might add. Please help..I might just be worrying about nothing..but I just want to be sure.

| sleepy puppy my puppys routine sounds about the same. he will get up and eat breakfast and some times he dont want to eat like today and thats fine. they will eat when they want to and he will play with me in the mornings and then use the potty and he will then usually lay down and nap in the after noons. and thats ok. it is good for them to nap its helps them not get so drained and want to sleep all day. puppies play hard and sleep hard. I would be more worried about not eating then sleeping. But he will play with me at any time. If he just layed in his bed and did not want to play when i intitated play time then i would worry about that to. But he is just tired it sounds like to me.

| My Kalina is the same age. She goes to bed at 10PM and sleeps soundly until 6AM. She goes outside and does her thing and then she goes back to sleep until 8:30AM at which time she eats breakfast. She plays and naps throughout the day, off and on. I let her sleep whenever she's tired because it's good for them to sleep. She's energetic and crazy when she's awake. I think your puppy sounds perfectly normal. Oh, and some days she is definately more sleepy than others.

| My baby is 5 months old as well and she sleeps all the time! I think they are growing so fast that they have to sleep to store up enough energy to grow some more. She will get up in the morning with lots of energy and once we take a walk and she eats breakfast, she is out for a couple of hours. Then she wakes up again and wants to play in the afternoon and then takes a nice nap. It works well for me, because I can get stuff done when she is sleeping!

I find it kind of interesting when they get older though....they really do adapt to your lifestyle~ whatever I'm doing, Max is right there with me....if I'm doing stuff in the kitchen or cleaning or exercising, he's running around me, but if I'm just doing stuff on the computer or reading or doing bookwork, he'll sleep...and he'll sleep most of the day if we're not doing active things. Since Max is my first dog, I just find that sort of amazing . No wonder I love him so much .
