Please Help - I Don't Know What's Wrong! Hi everyone. I haven't been here in such a long time. I hope you guys and your lovely babies are doing well. I really need some help. I'm freaking out over here. Wednesday , I gave Zoey a bath. She was completely fine before I gave her a bath. No problems what so ever. Well , every since her bath. She's been twitching her ears and shaking her head/body like she's wett! Then she puts her paws over her ears like she's irritated and something is wrong. :( She's been doing this for two days now. With the way that she's shaking herself off as though she's wett , i'm thinking she may have water in her ears. I have no idea if that's the problem but that's my first impression. She hasn't been herself lately. She's been UNPLAYFUL which is very unusual. She's always hopping around somewhere! She's been eatting and drinking though. She doesn't have a foul smell or any discharge coming from her ears. I really need help. I can't afford to take her to the vet right now. I probably won't have the funds for another two weeks and I don't want to wait that long. Any suggestions? If it is water , what do I do? Sorry for the long post. I'm so upset. |
Gosh, I wish I had an answer, poor little thing. My two do that spastic thing right after baths trying to get the clean off, but they quit once they get dirty again. It doesn't take 2 days. I hope she's ok. Could she be alergic to the soap. I know Roxy had an alergic reaction to Advantix K9 the last 2 times I used it. She shook, scratched, rubbed all over the floor, paced, wouldn't eat, was jumpy, didn't sleep - this went on for 2 or 3 days after I put it on her. She also did it with Adams flea spray. I had to rinse her off with warm water, then she was ok. Maybe you could try just a nice warm bath with no soap. I hope she gets feeling better. |
She very well may have water in her ears - if she's doing this often you'll need to get her to the vet - maybe they can work out payments good luck !! I hope she's going to be ok |
RoxyJosMom - Thank you sooo much! As soon as I read your reply , I ran in the bathroom and i'm running Zoey a nice warm bath right now. She may be allergic to the shampoo that I used. It's flea shampoo and I just thought about the fact that after I washed her , she had a red spot on her head! It's gone now but that very well may be the problem. I'm going to rinse her off now and see what happens. I'll come back and update. Vett - If the bath doesn't work , it's more than likely water. Thank you! |
I hope the bath works. If not, I agree with Villette - ask your vet to please let you pay him out. |
she most likely has an ear infection from getting water in her ear. If she's still doing it tomorrow i'd take her to the vet. sorry:( |
As a swim coach, I deal with water in the ears all the time. A tiny drop of alcohol in the ear should help to dry up any water that may remain in her ears, but it won't help if she has an infection. |
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I gave her a nice warm bath and rinsed her off a couple of times. No shampoo. She's nice and fluffy now but she's still doing it! I feel like crying :( |

water in the ears The first time I gave Teddy a bath, he did that for a couple of days and then at his regular vet visit I was told that he had in fact gotten water in his ears and it caused an ear infection. The vet gave me ear drops for him and in five days he was fine again. He didn\'t mind the drops at all and the improvement was almost instant. Good luck! |
I THINK you can get ear medication at petsmart. I don\'t know how effective it is but it\'s better than nothing. Otherwise I would see the vet. |
When it comes to ears Id hate to be guessing as it can be very serious and end up with long term damage if it is infected. I hope everything works out for your baby. |
I had a bulldog that got ear infections frequently after my boyfriend would give him a bath. He would get water in his ears and it would turn into a yeast infection. I would definately take him to the vet for some ear ointment that always cleared it up and gave relief almost immediately. |
Hi guys! I just wanted to tell everyone thank you! I tried the whole alcohol thing and it didn\'t work. Therefor , i\'m going to take her to the vet first thing tomorrow. :( |
Dont you put cotton in ears to bath????? I was told to put cotton in the ears, so it would help with this. I havent seen anyone say this. Does anyone else do that? jg |
