can't really say. Your vet has to determine what type of infection your dog has, if any, and then decide what medication he wants to use to treat it. And what my vet charges is probably totally different then what your vet charges. sorry.

Is this a vet you use often? If it is, then they should be able to work with you.
Fingers crossed for you. If they won't work it out, ask if they will hold a post-dated check.

Poor baby! And yes, I put cotton balls in Gizzy's ears when I bathe him. Maybe that will help prevent it in the future.

An ear infection can be a really painful thing. I had a jack russell that used to get them every so often. he was the most gentle, loving dog in the world; but he had to have a muzzle put on while they checked his ears. It really will respond to the drops you will get though; this is such a common thing that I don't believe it will be too very expensive to treat. His hearing is very important, and the pain relief is priceless. If after they look at him and treat him, the cost is too steep for you to handle all at once; they will have to let you pay it a little at a time. Go for it, he is your baby;)

I hope he's doing okay..... I know hair does it and I freaked out with the first vet I had but since have learned to keep the hair out and my Peanut is good. To watch you baby not leaving their ears alone can be so heart breaking.

Please post how you baby is..... it you can't buy the meds if his ears have an affection I will help! I hope he is okay!

After the infection in her ears is healed, you should use a drying agent in her ears after every bath. I used Chlorhexiderm Flush by DVM Pharmaceuticals. You can buy it at the vet's if he/she carries it, or you can go to a vet supply website and buy it. After the bath, I'd throw a towel over Hailey while she was still in the sink because she got cold fast, and I'd squirt a little of the Flush in her ear, and then massage the base of her ear for about 10 seconds. Then I'd turn her head sideways for the excess to flow out into the towel, and I'd do the other ear. A vet showed me how to do this many years ago. A dog's ear canal is L-shaped, so you follow the canal down the L to where it turns, and you massage the Flush so it gets into the entire ear. On the bottle it reads: "Topical Antimicrobial Cleansing/drying Solution for use on dogs, cats and horses." This dries any water that remains in the ear, and it feels soothing.

Try putting a few drops of sweet oil in each ear to see if that helps.

i have 2 other types of dog with down ears they tend to get ear infections more often the drops and ear cleaning meds are cheap also plucking extra ear hair will help prevent this. and when i get done bathing them i take the blow drier and blow it in their ears for a couple of seconds that helps to prevent ear infections.

I use those little foam earplugs [like you would use at a firing range for sound reduction]. Toto's little bug ears are so tiny that I take one and cut it down the middle, you roll it between your fingers, stick it down in the ear canal and it expands and protects her ears. My vet heartily approves!

Sounds like your baby has an ear infection. Several years ago, Toto was doing the same thing and Patrick kept saying she smelled odd. I found out that the groomer was clipping the ear hair way down in there instead of plucking it. Our vet was furious! The hair was so thick down in there that it stayed constantly wet and she had a really bad infection. That's why, regardless of how scrappy she looks, I groom her myself and take her to my vet for ear plucking, etc. Good luck with your little Zoey and I pray that she will feel better soon.

Get some ear cleaner put it in her ears massage the base of her ears. Get a Q-tip be very careful not to go too deep clear the ear canal. The put a drying agent in it. If your puppy has not had the hair pulled out of the ear canal you do need to do this. It traps water and can cause yeast. You can also use cotton balls in the ears when you are bathing to insure water does not get inside.;) Another problem could be ear mites. Your Vet. should have medication for this or you order it from Revivial Animal Health.

I don't use cotton, but I was told to keep the ear hairs short and never put water on his head, just use a washcloth on his face and head when bathing him.
