| okay, so this does not explain her unkept state, but could the dog be partially blind? This may cause her to sit in one place in new surroundings and snap at other dogs that come near. (Just trying to stay positive) |

| just a couple of things i have 5 dogs all diff kinds and personalities. lilly is the oldset 16 yrs and has her days when she is crabby, lexie who is 9 has allergies and her nails grow way faster then all my other dogs nails do and her teeth are bad, lucy is 6 is lazy and only moves for food and has a bad disk in her back so when we pick her up or pet her it sometimes bothers her and she yelps and slowly walks away, lola who is 2 has ocd and wants to paly all the time and loves all people but does not like any dogs that she doesnt already know it takes her a looooong time to not growl or snip at strange dogs she is also timid when in different places and shakes her fur is also in knots every day because it is so fine and cotteny soft if someone wouldnt know me they would totally think i niglected her because of all her issues, we know alot of her issues are because when she was 13 weeks old she had a mast cell tumor and had surg so i totally protected her from everything . and lacey is happy go lucky and loves everything. every dog i have has a different personality all are spoiled but all have or have had health or personality issues.

| No she definitely is not blind but that is a good thought though. So we called her parents, and I was quite dissapointed in the reaction I received. I was all excited to take her on a spa and get her cleaned up so we can show the parents how to upkeep her in the future but we were given a 'no' on every suggestion. We asked if we could take her to our regular groomer since we were already taking Zoe and said her nails seemed a bit long and it would make her more comfortable to trim it down a bit, they said no, they will take care of it when they come back. We said are you sure, we don't mind, it'd be fun for them to go together and it's no trouble at all, still no. We were even told no bath during the 12 days here with us which really surprised me even more, especially in this heat and she's one of those that has a bit of a doggy smell). But too late for that and we will continue to bathe her while she is with us. I'm very dissapointed in them and sorta feel as if they let her down but at this point, I can't do anything as it's not our dog. This experience with them has been a bit difficult as we want to spoil her but we're meeting a lot of resistance...the only thing we can do is what they ask + make her stay comfortable and hopefully teach her a few things. She has continued to just sit there, still does not want to walk (which we can't even encourage thru treats) or play. So we will let her be and not assume anything. We have plans on 'educating' the parents when they come back though and just hope that the upkeeping will rub off. Thanks everyone for all your thoughts & suggestions. |

| Oh darn - I was hoping you would get a better reaction from them!!! It does sound like she is "just a dog" to them. And, though there is nothing wrong with this - I'm glad you and I and many other YTers think differently!!!

| Know you have done the right thing in trying to make a difference in this little one's life You are blessing this baby & her family just by having this pup with your family. Maybe her owners will be more open to caring for her if they continue to come to meet-ups in your area. Also, I don't think anyone else suggested this, but maybe you could tell her about YorkieTalk! I know this might sound crazy - but coming on YT actually makes me love my dogs more - or at least know I'm not totally out-of-my-mind because I love them so much! I think YT helps so many who come here |

| awe...thanks yorkiesmile and everyone else, your kind words mean a lot. You're right, YT member's love for their yorkies makes me want to be an even better dog lover. That's for sure. Yes, Zoe may be a dog in our house but she is a family member and even bears our last name on her registration papers. shhhh....I couldn't bear it so we took her to Petsmart for a nail trim . I know I was told not to do it but it broke my heart to see it that long and v's comment about it possibly affecting her pads. I hope no thinks negative of me for doing what the parents told me NOT to do. Everything else could wait but that. We've taught her 2 commands so far without treats believe it or not. I can't believe she didn't know a single command, not even 'sit' before she came to us. But she is asked to sit before she gets her bowl of food. I doubt her parents will take her to the local meetups...the only reason they signed up was to get a sitter since they didn't want to pay $50 for daycare for the 12 days they were gone and we weren't charging a penny. They only found that meetup board at the suggestion of their neighbor who is part of the meetup. BUT I will comment that we'll miss their girl when she leaves and we hope to see them at the meetups. |
