| 11 week old Yorkie help!! I got my Yorkie about 2 weeks ago, he's 11 weeks old now!! 1. and so far he's been okay about peeing on pee pee pads, but he still pees/poops on the floors when I let him come out to play. **I just got the litter box set from Purina today, has anyone tried it? any tips on how to make it go smoothly?** 2. currently he sleeps and spends most of his time in a playpen (since i'm so sensitive about using the small plastic crate cause of all of his crying). he's finally stopped crying as much when i have to leave him in the playpen so as a new owner, you can understand how relieved i am! what is the easiest way to make a transition to the small crate and how often should I keep him in that and how often should I keep him in the playpen? 3. I'm moving to an apartment in 2-3 weeks, what are some good apartment + new Yorkie tips? Oh and from some people I hear that you have to constantly give the puppy food/water at all times, but doesn't that make "crate training" so much harder? THANKS!! |

| Your baby is much too young to withhold any food and water. I don't crate my dogs at all. When they were in the potty training stage, I hooked an expen to the front of a wire crate. I put a blanket over the crate, making it den like, a wee-wee pad at the oposite end and a toy and nylabone and attach the water dish or water bottle to the pen. I always left the crate door open. During the day I took the puppy outside every hour to potty and play. NEVER did they run around the house before they were completely house trained. At night we would cuddle with them on the sofa, but taught them that was bonding time, not play time. |
