| TAMMY(4yrs) SPAY SURGERY TUES - I'm so worried ! Well everyone, I am putting poor tiny Tammy in for her spay surgery in 9 hours time(Scottish time) and maybe a tooth out, and I am so worried ! I found out she was too old for first time puppies, so Casper won't be a Daddy....but Tammy's welfare is of the utmost importance, so I am getting her Spayed. She is Four years old - birthday was yesterday, and I am worried sick, not only because I remember Tara being so sick after her spay 6 years ago, but just because of the terrible life Tammy had before she came to us and I don't know how she will take people being bad to her again. We got her last October in a terrible state....shaved, all red-raw skin and itching, and with the most pungent smell I have ever smelled in my life - which turned out to be a Yeast infection and burrowing mites. Her ears were in tatters from fighting to get food from the same bowl as his other Yorkie who he had also just sold. She wasn't toilet trained and her previous owner told me he didn't believe in Vets and told me not to take her, as she had never been !!!!! Needless to say, she went straight to the Vets for treatment and her vaccinations. Now she is so well and her coat has grown in nicely. Her ears though still wonky, are at least covered in hair now to cover the rags of skin left. .....I am so sorry she has to get this surgery done after all she has been through, but it's for her own good - I just wish I could tell her that ! I have managed to do two dentals on her now - which is hard when a dog isn't used to it - but I always do my others as well to keep their tiny teeth good....Tammy's were already well gone. I chipped so much muck off them, but she has two back ones which are black and gruesome at the gum and root, and her breath smells, so I think she needs them out. I have told the Vet to pull them if they are rotten....I hope they don't leave them, because I don't want to ever put her in for surgery again after this ! They say they will give her a pre-med in her hip which will make her sleepy. I hope so, as I was raging when I got Tara back after warning them she had tiny veins, and to be careful, but getting her back with 5 blood-y needle holes in the side of her paw, and 2 in her arm-pit ! Obviously they hadn't listened and hurt Tara. I told them of Tammy's history, so I hope they have listened ! I will post tomorrow to let you all know how she gets on....it's 1.45am here, so I'm off to bed....I won't sleep for worrying, boohoo ! POOR BABY ! ....... Debra x x x x pic 1: Tammy. pic 2: Tammy. Pic 3: Tara Casper and Tammy. Pic 4 : TINY Tammy. Last edited by HighlandYorkies; 07-30-2007 at 04:48 PM. |

| Best wishes to Tammy and to you. She will do fine. I am an OR nurse and I always tell the parents of my young patients, it is harder on them than it is the actual patient. What a great mommy you are to give her a second chance at a good life.

| Hi everyone.....well I left poor Tiny Tammy there at 9am this morning shivering and shaking....poor wee mite, she was terrified and mystified ! She wasn't impressed that we "forgot" to feed her this morning either ! "What was that all about !" ....she wondered ! I phoned this afternoon at 2.30pm, and she is just out from surgery ! That means that they took her last - I hope she had her pre-med not long after we left her, or she'd have been distraught in that cage all that time. I was right about her teeth - they have taken the same back molar out from the top on both sides - so 2 teeth out. She is on pain meds, and sleepy they say....I am just sooooo gald she has come through it. At least I know she is sleeping at the moment. We've to pick her up at 4.30pm ....can't wait to cuddle her.... gently ! THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR GOOD WISHES......HOPE BUZZ COMES THROUGH OK AS WELL....let us know ! I will let you know what she is like later after I get her home...... Tara and Casper have wondered why we forgot to take her home ! I can't believe how quiet the house is....maybe they think I will leave them somewhere too if they get noticed ! I think I just hadn't realised just what a live wire Tammy is compared to my other two laid back babies ! Update later...... Love Debra x x x x |

| Nice to know Maggie is doing well 4 weeks on - roll on four weeks, ..........but then it's my turn for surgery, lol ! This is what Tammy looked like yesterday.....pic.1 below Here she is post surgery, AFTER a wash....she was in such a state !....pic.2 She was soaking wet and caked in blood, and still has quiet a lot on her, but I got some off, and washed the back half of her which stunk of Urine....now it's just the blood smell. She moans continually and I am not supposed to let her up or down off furniture....but she was asleep one minute, and off the couch the next....so I put her bed on the floor, and Ashley my daughter came in and she jumped with fright out of her bed and up onto the couch - I wish I had a play-pen ! She is still very groggy - eyes half shut, and in a lot of pain......The cheeky Vets said she looked like a GUINEAPIG ! She apparently looked "lost" the whole time they had her - no wonder, I knew she would be fretting ! Poor Tammy is not herself at all - she is sooooo sore and moaning ! I am just sooo glad to have her home ! She has to go back for a check on Friday. She has a collar to go on once she is more alert, but she has managed to jump onto the couch again....eeeeek ! She looked so comfy, I don't want to move her - so I'd better sign off and watch her ! THANKS SO MUCH EVERYONE ! Speak soon, Debra x p.s. ....for those interested, Spey(oops I spelt it wrong before) : £120 Two teeth out : £8.00 Plus meds, collar, etc.........total price over here is £140.53 (double for dollars) |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor baby !! I hope they gave her something for pain & if she's moaning - maybe you could give her a bit more ?? I'd ask the vet to make sure and see if you can get her more comfortable - - mine didn't moan ....it's got to be so sad to hear and hopefully within 24 hours she'll be feeling a bit better...Mine bounced back pretty fast ... the 1st day is always the hardest... if the collar bothers her try a onsie outfit - something that will cover the stitches yet give her freedom of movement ....other than that - I just want to send get well wishes and hope the pain subsides for her bless her heart - she's a little CUTIE |
