YT 2000 Club Member | How soon to get a vet I will not be getting my baby till December but I am looking for a vet. did any of you visit the vets office before you got your puppy? How soon should I make the decision. I want to be able to get Jeter in for a check up within the first few day's of getting him home. Any advice would be appreciated. |

| I went to the vet a few towns over... That was after talking to a guy at the local feed store. But then after I found my groomer she was able to give me names of 2 really good vets.

| I didn't visit mine. Well the first one that I started with was the one my parents went to, so I knew that it was ok. Then I heard about this other vet who would love on your pets, and it was cheaper. So thats why I started going there. And thats where all of our animals go. Good luck finding a good vet. You could also look in the regional forums, and maybe someone in your area could tell you a vet they go to |

| I was already established with a vet with my cats when I got Gracie. Gracie had her first appointment with the vet 2 days after I brought her home. You might go to the regional forum for where you live and post requesting vet recommendations.

YT 2000 Club Member | It's not that I want a vet recommendation, I was wondering if people checked out the vet that they were thinking of using and if so how soon did you check out the office before getting your puppy. I have two vets that sound great and both were recommended but I read that people have checked out the vet office before they took their puppy . Did you just call and ask a few questions or what? I am all new at this and I want to do things right and have the vet lined up before he comes home! |

| No, I didn't. I guess if you wanted to walk in, you could. I don't know if they would show you around, some probably would, then some wouldn't... |

| I already had a vet I loved. If I didn't I would check around. You might even find one who really loves yorkies.

YT 2000 Club Member | Thanks for the feedback, It has been a while for me owning a dog and when I did, I was young and my parents were in charge of taking it to the vet . I just want to make sure that I like the vet and how they are with answering questions that I might have. I was like this when I was hunting a Pediatrician for my boy's before they were born! I want only the best This has been a real fun experience so far, I can't wait to get my puppy! |

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | If I have a friend making a recommendation, I would ask to go with them the next time they go to the vet. I look at the cleanliness, the friendliness of the staff and Vet, how willing they are to ask questions, their hours and emergency availablity as well as price. |

| I would find one now, since you will want to bring your puppy to vet within the first day or two to make sure they are healthy. Congratulations on your new Pup!

| Congratulations on your new baby!!! My breeder is in my area fortuantely and I take Nathan to the same vet she uses for his parents and all her litters..which is good and she does their first set of shots so the Vet was familiar with Nathan and his parents etc..So it works out great for me

| I went and visited a few vet's offices before I made an appointment for my baby. All of them were really great and showed me around the place and answered my questions, well all except one place which I crossed off my list right away! At a couple of them I was even able to talk to the vet for a couple of minutes to see how comfortable they were with small breeds. I ended up picking one who had several toy breeds of her own. I think a good vet's office would be happy to show you around as time permits.

YT 2000 Club Member | Thanks for the information! I was hoping that I could visit the vet's office. I would like to get a feel of the place if I could. I am hoping that I will have Jeter by the 3rd week of December, so I have some time to check into the vet's in my area. I will be getting a boy, I have been working with a breeder for about 5 months now to get a show/breed quality puppy. I want to be able to breed him eventually with my mom's girls. This is something that we have been planing on for a long time and things are just starting to get going with getting Jeter here! |
