OMG!!! I just saw this thread and I'm soooooo sorry for little Maggie... Mitzi sends tiny Yorkie kisses and we all pray for her that she is well in no time!

Did the vet that saw her say for her to stay off her cast and crate rest only? Just wondering.

Thank goodness it was a clean break and that she's home. She looks so helpless in her little cast. Poor little baby.

no, they did not say she needed to stay off of it. I will be sure and go over all of that with her regular vet in the morning. The one she saw basically made it sound like she can hobble around all she wants. But I will double check that in the morning!!!

I worry about that so much with Molly because she is always jumping off my lap and I'm in a wheelchair. I try to hang on to her to ease the fall, but sometimes she's flying through the air. She's larger though - about 9 lbs. I'm hoping that helps.

What time are you going to Maggie's regular vet? We will all be waiting to hear news of little Maggie. She looked so sad in the pictures (but if you have to have a cast--a pink one is pretty darn cute:p ).

I pray Maggie is doing better today & adjusting to her new reality :( Will Trinity go with you to the vet? Just wondering if that would help her at her young age, plus I'm sure she wants to help make Maggie as comfortable as possible.

Hope the vet can answer all your questions. We are anxious to hear what you find out.

No, Trinity is not going. I honestly didn't even think about that. She is at day care, she wanted to go early today because her best friend is there, and she hasn't seen him all weekend :)

Maggie seems to be adjusting ok. She is getting around a lot better and doesn't seem to be in any pain this morning.

Thanks for checking in, I will let you know how the trip to the vet goes.

So glad Maggie is doing better today and the pain seems to have eased.

Well, maybe being with her friend is the best thing for your daughter. She needs to have fun and not necessarily be blaming herself.

I am sooo sorry - I know that Barkley will get spooked like that and just jump - he is a little bigger than some other yorkies so luckily he has never been hurt, your in our prayers.

the vet appt went good. he said he wants to keep the cast on for 6-8 weeks, do another xray in 3 weeks from today to make sure they are aligning ok, and if not, do surgery. He seems to think everything looks ok. he said if i want to bathe her, i can put a ziplock bag over her cast, close it up good, and just do all I can to avoid that area. 2 months is waaaay too long with no bath LOL

maggie is doing fine today. she weighed in at 5.4 lbs with her cast on :)

Glad your vet seemed to think things would be ok! Be very careful with the ziploc bags and the water! Having had 2 skinkids with casts *AT THE SAME TIME* let me tell you--it is not easy to manage with the bags (and that's on people that we can explain how and what to do). Let me know how it goes...BTW...you may want to go ahead and do the bath thingy now, before she gets too dirty. Then you can try and keep her contained inside. Just a thought!

It sounds like you have a caring vet for Maggie! We will keep you all in our prayers.

What did the vet say about any pain she might be in? How long does she get the pain medicine?

I know it sounds like a long time, but the weeks will hopefully go quickly for Maggie and the entire family.

I just saw your post with the pics of Maddie in her pink cast..I didn't know what happenned to her til now. :2omg: I'm sure your daughter feels horrible.. I'm so sorry and hope she gets better soon! Many hugs and kisses for her.

Glad to hear Maggie's vet visit went so well and she is not in pain.
Will continue to pray for her speedy recovery and that she will not need surgery.

She only has 4 pain pills but I don't think she will need them. He said baby asprin helps with mild discomfort. I'm sure she will be fine. She seems to not be in any pain
