Again, what is a redleg? I can't find anything on it.

I tried googling redleg, but no luck. What does it mean? Lack of hair growth?

I've never heard the term "redleg" either - but Kensington has the reddish coloring on his legs (and face) and has the different hair quality that is sort of coarse. I certainly wouldn't term it "lack of growth" - his coat just grows thicker and does not grow long and flowy like my other 4 yorkies. He is still very handsome though!

Here are some pictures:
1) Kensington at 12 weeks 2) at 8 months 3) bad pic of him but shows his legs and 4) a couple of weeks ago - his coat gets fluffy when he needs a haircut

Well.. he is absolutely adorable!!! I dont' mind the short hair, or the longer nose at all. I think that it's perfect!

I was told when my Dylan was a puppy that I had a red legged yorkie. Here is a picture of him when he was 3 mths old and then one of him today at 20 mths old. He's the yorkie on the right. And the third picture is also a current one.

Lacy and Kensington both look like red legged yorkies to me. It just means that they have a wiry type coat, their snout is a little longer and the hair doesn't grow very long.

I don't think Lacy would actually qualify as "redleg" (and no, I'm definitely no expert). Her hair looks really soft and silky. I remember seeing her in the store one day too and she felt really soft. On the other hand, her coat may be "sparse" or "thinner than others" but that doesn't make her a redleg. Have you tried any supplements? Like Missing Link? After not having to take Tatum to the groomer for about a year for a real groom (I do the paws and sanitary areas), I got her a new bag of Missing Link and wow, the difference it made in her coat. It got fuller pretty quick.

To the original poster, I think it's too early to tell with yours. I got Tatum at 9 weeks and yes her hair was longer than your pup's but I don't know what they typically look like at 6 weeks. I think only time will tell with yours.

Redlegs have more of a wire type coat. Their hair grows extremely slow and the hair on the legs really don't grow at all.

Very hard to tell... Think you'll have to give it a little time... When he grows more you should be able to tell...
