Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Is Diggy a Stud? All went well at the vet today. Diggy is 3.6 pounds and 5 months old. His bite is even and level, eyes and ears looked great, knees and elbows are tight. His forelegs are are straight and hind legs are slightly curved. Head is flat topped and body appears squared. She went through the check list of what Yorkie Standard is and said he checks out thus far. That's better than hearing he is all messed up!! lol She is helping me do the DNA test from AKC when the kit comes. So I am on my way to learning what a stud should be and if Diggy is the Stud I think he is His Bile Acid Test was good (5 pre 7 post) complete blood panel is good She explained the changes he will go through if I do not neuter him and how the testosterone may bring him to challenge Bella (2yrs old & spayed) as she is definitely the dominant one of the 2. Told me what to watch for and was hopeful for this to work. She sees Diggy about once a week or 2 as I requested he get shots one at a time not all at once. She feels his temperament is very passive and he may work just fine with altered dominant female...If he challenges her too much and they fight, she recommends he get neutered. I agree. So thats the start of my journey to seeing if Diggy is a good stud boy.

| Diggy You left out the most important requirement for a good stud..a pedigree of quality to supply him with the genes to produce sound, quality Yorkies. You can not ask a stud to do something he is not genetically programmed to do. |

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | I realize that, and your right I did leave that out. We are concentrating on his grandparents pedigree and looking at thier accomplishments she feels looking at grandparents is the best place to start. His pedigree shows him to have very sound, quality genes. I have met his stunning parents and 1 of his grandpas....Grandpa is now 14 and healthy as can be (not breeding anymore) We have 4 yorkies in my immediate family from Diggys parents (one is with a fellow YT'er ) They are all beautiful and all within the standard for yorkies. I will continue to research and find out as much as I can. He's only 5 months, I plan to take my time and do it all right. I will not ask Diggy to do what he is not genetically programmed to do. I want healthy, happy, puppies strong and keeping the standards/genes of the Yorkie high!

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Oh and I plan to have him tested for Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) and register the results. Also have his knees caps checked again later and register him with OFA. Those are my next steps...Ill just keep plugging away until its all done right! I am learning so much on this journey...and it's exciting whether Diggys ia a stud or not!

Good reply! Good for you!! Knowing you as I do, if you do decide to stud Diggy, you will have researched your fingertips off and educated yourself to the fullest extent!! This would not be a decision you would make lightly. You would never jump into anything without complete and total confidence that you are doing the right thing for Diggy, Bella, and the Yorkie breed!! AND I'd better be pretty high on the puppy list if it happens. Hope my little Digster is feelin OK after his rabies shot.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Yep he still has them...and there are 2 theories on where the white comes from. 1 is the pie bald came from breeding with a maltese.. the other is it a sought after gene producing Biewers and Partis....it's a whole controversy I never knew exsisted and to my knowledge there is no test for the pie bald gene....I have not looked into the pie bald that far yet I am just repeating what people have told me...No expert on the white stuff yet lol wish there was a test for it tho. His puppy coat is growing out so time will tell.
