| Question with new puppy! Here is his newest picture! He is 7.5 weeks old! I get him in 3 more weeks and I cant wait. His ears are standing and he is all fluffy! So Meeka will be 6 months when we get him and is up to date on all shots. Is there anything that I should be worried about her possibly catching from him or anything that she can give him? Now that she has all her shots I take her every where, couldnt she bring something like parvo home to him and he could get it since he is not fully vacinated yet?

| I don't know, but he sure is CUTE!! Someone on another post said that you can bring in Parvo on your shoes, etc. So, for safety's sake, I wouldn't take her to Petsmart type places or dog parks, etc. until he is up-to-date on his shots. Kalina is 3 1/2 months and gets her final puppy shots on Wednesday. My Vet told me to stay away from those places until she gets that shot.

| I don't think so, but then again I don't have any experience. I am sure that someone here would know. I have two and nothing has ever happened to my little one. Forgot to say that he is adorable!

| He's adorable. Really parvo can come from anywhere. My dog got it when she was a puppy from me walking through petsmart and not cleaning off my shoes when I got home (at least thats what the vet suspects). Now if we have a pup around my shoes come off before I enter the door. Just to be safe I would keep both the dogs home until all the puppy shots were complete.

My Lil Man! Donating Member | It wouldnt hurt to give your vet a call and ask him/her. I think it would be a good idea to not take your oldest to any places where other pets are until your baby gets all his shots b/c I have heard that it can be carried in that he doesnt have to be there himself to actually get it. I know when I was working at vets office they recommended to me that if any of my dogs were still puppies and werent up to date on shots that the first thing I need to do when I get home is take a good shower before handling and being around them. I dont know if this was just precautionary to make sure there would be no way for him to catch something I may have brought in or if its really that bad..but I do know Parvo is VERY contagious. Goodluck with your new puppy...he is adorable!! |
