sometimes you have to take what people say with a grain of salt especially on the street. my baby's ear doesn't stand up, and people always mention it. I will soon get around to tape it and see if that will help him at this point, cause i dont know why the one ear flopped down. . I get crap here in PR about the fact that his coat is not cut as well. People will find what ever thing wrong with what you have to try to validate why they are that much more special. Keep ur head up and ignore those people and be happy that your baby is healthy and happy and breathing.

oh i also get crap that he weighs 8 lbs now instead of 2.5 lol but whatever.. u know?

Well, if your little girl is freak then so is my little Noah! :p I LOVE is tail.

Mine has a cropped tail, but I think it is inhumane to do it. I asked the breeder not to, but he did anyway. I was more than a bit angry :mad: My next yorkie, I will refuse to buy with a docked tail. I think they are pretty with tails (although, I do have to admit it is stinkin adorable when Paddington wags his little nub)

Someone on here told me once that the tails break easily, and that is why they get docked sometimes.

It's going to be hard for you to find a puppy from a reputable breeder in the US that won't dock tails as almost all will follow the AKC standard. You might have to buy one from out of the country. Docking tails is not cruel if done right.

If you are getting a pet-quality yorkie with a spay/neuter contract and limited registration, why would a breeder refuse to leave the tail undocked?

I can understand that the puppy may not sell to another buyer, so you would need to pay the whole price upfront (probably before birth), and agree to lose that money if you back out. With that said, why wouldn't a breeder agree to that?

Don't get me wrong, I love Gizzy's little docked tail, but if I ever get another yorkie, I thought that's what I would do. I love the long tails!

I am curious to see if any of the show breeders on here would agree to that. If you had a person come to you to buy a puppy and asked that you leave its tail undocked and paid up front for the puppy - would you leave the tail undocked? I'm really interested to see if any of you would agree to that and your reasons why or why not.

My Gypsy is a freak too! Both my Yorkie and my Mum's have full tails because it's now illegal to dock their tails in this country. I always thought it would be strange to have a Yorkie with a tail but I actually prefer it now! :D

My Susanah is a half-freak! Her tail was docked, but not quite short enough. So it stands straight up. I wouldn't have it any other way. I LOVE it!

That is the question?
Who decieded a hundred years ago what breeds where to be cropped and which were not?
I think how ever you like your baby is just fine.
Some ears don't stand as the standard says the should. but they are still wonderful yorkies!!!!!

Its not cruel per say, however it is inhumane, taking away a creatures god given body part for the sake of fashion is very very inhumane.

Sorry, forgot that there may be another standard in the USA.
But you can see the standard that countries outside of USA use on the website for
The FCI (www.fci.be) (The Yorkie is in group 3 there, Terriers)
The contry of origin for every breed can decide each breeds standard and the other countries must follow that standard.
I think that it is only the USA that has sometimes diffirent standard, but many times/some times it has the same standard as FCI.
But FCI recognises pedigrees from AKC.

Here you can see the quote from the Yorkie standard (outside usa):

What does it say in the ACK standard for the Yorkie about the tail?
