| I would hope that people who are willing to pay for them will provide a very good home. We thought long and hard, researched and read about Yorkies and other dogs before deciding on a Yorkie---she was worth every single penney. Not just anyone can walk up, pick up a Yorkie and take it home. They are high maintenance, fragile, tender and the best emotional investment for the right family. |

| Hallee and Gracie are worth every penny and then some. I would not sell them for a million dollars...literally.

| I have to agree with what has been said, you can't put a price on a yorkie, what price happiness? I took out a bank loan to buy my little friend, the best £400 I have ever spent! I am saving up for a little sister or brother for next year. ![]() I better get off this site now and do some work or I'll get fired!!

She never said that any dog needed to wear a diamond collar to be cared for, but she did say that yorkies are dependent on vet visits and grooming in a way that other breeds are not.

I never said anything about the the "wants" we provide for our yorkies (collars, clothes, carriers, etc.). I only refered to the necessary things - vet bills, grooming, food, etc. A lot of people don't realize how much it costs to own a dog, especially a small long-haired breed. You'd think a big dog would cost you more in the long run (and probably does with food) but little dogs cost just as much as a large dog to have and usually more. If you have a big dog with diarrhea, you will probably be fine to get your dog to the vet the next morning when they open, but if you have a tiny 3lb yorkie with diarrhea you may need to go to the emergency clinic in the middle of the night because they could so easily become dehydrated and hypoglycemic. They are a long haired breed so they require regular grooming, need a high quality food because they don't eat much and need to be able to get as much nutrients from it as possible, and somehow these little ones usually just need to go to the vet more (they are so little that we just worry over every little thing!). And do you know how many people want a yorkie becasue they are small and cute? There are so many people that would buy a yorkie on the spur of a moment if given the opportunity if they cost less and a lot of those people don't know enough about the breed and aren't prepared to own one. When people see the hefty pricetags on these yorkies, it makes most of them step back and really think - do I really want this dog? They'll start to research the breed, ask others about them, look at different breeders....not too many people want to just blow $1000 on something they aren't sure if they want or not. You knew you wanted a yorkie and took the time to prepare for owning one which is a great thing! I wish more people would do this when thinking about buying any type of dog! Again, I never mentioned buying all the fancy extras most of us buy our babies. Maybe you are getting this from seeing some of the other threads I've posted on. Yes, I spend a lot of money on my dog - she has a closet filled with clothes, collars, carriers, and bows, etc...I just love to buy things for her. She does not need these things and would be just fine with a couple toys, a dish for her food and water, a harness and leash, and maybe a sweater for when it is cold outside. What dogs need most is love and affection from their family. If you are providing the basic needs for your dog and taking it to the vet when needed and giving it the love and attention it deserves, that's all your dog needs. Everything else is just for fun! I mean really my dog could probably care a less what I put on her...the outfits are more for me (I just like to pretend she cares)..I just have fun with them. I'd much rather see someone loving their dog and meeting their basic needs than someone who buys fancy collars and clothes for their dog to dress them up but doesn't spend anytime loving their dog.

| I have 3 yorkies and bought at differnet price. I am not rich I just love this breed.. However why do most think if you can not afford a yorkie you do not deserve one. That is so untrue....Dishing out $800 to $1000 all at once is different than pay for a $40 vet shot. all at once.. I know alot of people that I gave a yorkie too that could not afford one. They have wonderful loveing homes. Updated on shots ..and they would go in debt if there furbaby would get sick. That is really harsh to say People that can not afford a yorkie could not care for them the right way. I do not understand why they are so pricey But, I do know once you get one they are worth millions to you
