Kindness 001! Did you send me that chart? I got one blocked from Web Master at Yorkie Talk. I went in and redid my set up so, if thatwas you, please try again. Are you Web Master? Thanks! Pat |
Hi Brownie's mom, I heard that Silky's were bigger in general than yorkies are...you said your's is 14 lbs...that's an armful!! My Kady is 9 1/2 and that even feels heavy sometimes ...especially when we're out taking a walk and she decides she's had enough and wants me to carry her all the way back home. :) I would love to get another little dog too, but maybe try for a smaller yorkie. Only because so many people have shared photos of the tiny ones and they look so cute. Kady is a rascal and loves the outdoors and woods. She's a wild looking thing, not a lap dog...and would never be seen in a bow...hah! but she's a whole lot of fun and I like that she's so adventurous. She runs the deer off into the woods...she thinks she's as big as they are. |
2 Attachment(s) hey silky really are only surrposed to be like 10 pounds but every silky we get gets huge i think its our house brownie our yorkie is 20 pds one of our cats is about 24 pds pepper our silky that passed away he was almost 30 so our house is supersized even our guniea pig is huge lolol heres some pics one is kayko our silky when he was a baby now hes 7 months and he got neuterd yesterday (HAHA)lol and the other one is brownie our yorkie and baby kayko that the first time they met :) |
Not sure if this has been mentioned as I don't have time to read each post right now, but alternatives to from the breeder puppies are rescue yorkies. My yorkie is a rescue dog. It might not be the route you want to go, and not all rescue yorkies are older. You can check out http://www.unitedyorkierescue.org/ they are a great organization and have photos of the available dogs who deserve just as much love as any other! Good luck! Jeni ETA: I think I fixed the link :D |
That's a great idea! However, I couldn't bring up the sight! Brownies mom I think they are adorable! That still isn't very big, I don't think. My pekenese weighed 15 # and I thought of her as a small dog (which she was). Now that I have a 3# Yorkie, I know the meaning of small. Thanks for the pics! Pat |
mybirdy whats not very big ????? and she has a typo on the site here i typed it again and it worked www.unitedyorkierescue.org ok :) |
Brownie's mom....oh...those pics are so cute too. You gotta send me to where the directions are...I want to show you my Kady but don't know how to put pics up here. Do you have a few pics of your silky all grown up? I want to see the difference between a silky and a yorkie.... |

browniesmom: LOL sounds like out house. Ebony is a fat 20 pounds. Our cats all look big. We feed our pets Iams. |
Brownie's mom...they're GEORGEOUS!! I love these new photos!! Oh, you must miss your baby so much, Pepper was so silky and shiny. I'll check out their sites tonight too. I will try to get Kady's pics on here by doing as you suggested tonight. She is not so shiny as yours, she's a mess, a ragamuffin through and through, but I love her to death :p . |
I live on the West Coast of Florida and I bought my baby for $500.00. I guess I was lucky, Bell is a female and weights normally around 7.5 lbs. She is taller than the average about 11-12 inches at her shoulders. She is blue and gold (rather silver) and I bought her 1 1/2 years ago. But here in Florida Yorkies can run anywhere from $500 to $1200 |
hey sarah 2 Attachment(s) heres my fat candie lol |
hehe fat cats crack me up. My sisters cat Gena looks alot like yours. She is so heavy. I paid $800 for Cecilia. The breeder I used raised her prices to $1200 for females soon after I purchased Cecilia. My vet told me I got a great healthy puppy and at a good price. She was 12 weeks old and had had 2 series of shots. at 12 weeks she weighed 1.6 pounds and now she weighs 3.8 at 9 months. |
wow, you got lucky then, females are soooooooooo much more expensive, ..... i got toby for 5, he is a lil chubs!...lol :D he weighs 3 lbs at 12 weeks...... he still has this "cough" but i think it might be a reverse sneeze  he sounds like he has something stuck in his throat, sometimes he has his mouth open and sometimes its shut, so i dunno  ...... anyways, these little guys sure are expensive, i couldnt believe i got toby for $500 |
that sounds like kennel cough you should get that checked |
we allready took him to the vet, its not kennel cough.......... he told us toby just had a cold......... but the coughing is still not going away...... it gets worse after he plays, or drinks water, or in dry weather..... |
thats what kennel cough is cold The primary sign of kennel cough is a dry- sounding, spasmodic cough caused by pathogens that induce inflammation of the trachea (windpipe) and bronchi (air passages into the lungs). At the end of a coughing spell, a dog will often retch and cough up a white foamy discharge. Some dogs also develop conjunctivitis (inflammation of the membrane lining the eyelids), rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal mucous membrane), and a nasal discharge. Affected dogs usually remain active and alert and continue to eat well.If your dog is diagnosed with kennel cough, your veterinarian will likely prescribe an antibiotic to help prevent any secondary bacterial infection and a cough suppressant its like bronchitus |
well he does do the retching, but there is no foamy white stuff... his eyelids look ok, and his nose is just a little stuffy, do you relaly think it could be kennel cough? maybe i should get another doctor to look at him when i take him in next time... |
OOh! Orinskye that sounds scary! I would certainly ask for a second opinion! Just to be on the safe side. It does sound like Kennel cough! Pat |
im telling u to go to another doctor my dog had the same thing he'll be fine once you get medicine if the doctor is wrong and it gets worse he can die soon as i read ur post i said kennel cough im not a doctor but u should go see another one and if this one says its kennel cough you should do something about the doctor that said it wasnt cause its easy to tell if its kennel cough or not good luck let me know what happens |
thanks browniesmom....... i am taking him to the vet tomarrow to MAKE them listen to me..... i talked to my friend over the phone and he couldnt BELIEVE that they didnt give him antibiotics for kennel cough , especially after hearing the symtoms |
So glad you are following up on that. Please let us know what the vet says! Sure hope they put him on an antibiotic. Doesn't take much for lthese little ones to get really sick. Let us know now! Pat |
