I think it's the ears that throw people off but I absolutely love his floppy ears!! Its funny he kinda reminds me of the Bernstein Bears. :p Of course through all of this we learned a vaulable lesson, and as we always say hindsight is 20/20. |
I bought my Snoodles for $800. She was chipped, shots, vet approved etc. I was looking for a Yorkie, and had found two that were pregnant and they wanted $350. But, my daughter was on a trip up to Polson, Mt.(I live in Butte, Mt.) and found her and kept calling me and e-mailing me pictures from the woman's house and I said no way, That is way too much. But, she kept insisting and calling me, and finally I said, Oh okay go ahead and get it. I haven't been sorry one bit. My nephew bought one in Billings, Mt. for $350. also. Guess it's whatever they can get for them. Pat |
Gosh! I guess a trip in our motorhome to Butte, Mt is in order when we want 2 MORE, MORE, MORE, YORKIES ! :D |
geez, $350 is beyond CHEAP!!!!!!!!!, I e-mailed some breeders in my area and asked if they had any for $500-$600 and i got laughed at  AND ON TOP OF THAT, i did find puppies for $600 and i called on them, the guy that answered didnt even speak english very well! and when i asked about a health guarantee he said "whats that?" I think im going to wait until after christmas, because i know breeders lower their prices for the puppies that did not sell for christmas. |

Thanks for the warning mmyorkies.... i assumed it was common practice to hike prices for the holidays, because it is so common here (everyone does it)... but hey, thats why im learning all i can BEFORE im ready to get one :D But, like ive said before... a friend fo mine REALLY knows the breed and he is going to take a look at any dog im interested in AND he knows all the questions to ask the breeder to find out if the breeder is shady or not, so we shall see... i like to do my research THOUROUGHLY before i commit to anything, so i will probably be on the hunt for a while (maybe as much as a year) before i get my yorkie baby |
I have a Yorkie Weight chart that is pretty close. according to it your yorkie should get around 3 1/.2 to 4 lbs. My Bobo is a year old Oct 7th and weighs 3 1/2 lbs. Missy is 7 years old and weighs 5 1/2 lbs. I paided 685 for BoBo and 450 for missy. I to raise AKC pups and sell them for 700-800 small ones 4 lbs and under and 500-600 over that. |
We got Archie at 5 mos. old for about $850. I got all his papers, and vaccines, and everything, including 5 years of checkups. But Archie was on "sale." I was told that if I had gotten him when he was younger, and smaller, he would have been almost $2,500. He's actually 9lbs now at 7 months. I live in NYC...you'd be surprised what people spend on their dogs in this neighborhood! |

Do you have a link to your weight chart or could you email/post it? I've searched all over for one, out of curiosity, and can't find any. thanks |
Yes! I would like to print out the weight chart too! Can't seem to find one on the web. I read somewhere where you take their weight at 16 weeks, double it and add 1/2 pound and that is what your Yorkied should weigh. Would sure love the weight chart, though! Pat |
OMG< !! i just got off the phone with a breeder in my area, and when i was reluctant to consider paying her outragous price for a yorkie ($1900) she actually told me "well goodluck, if you want a QUALITY yorkie you need to fork over the bucks!" How ridiculous is that? I even asked her questions about her dogs, she doesn't do a bile test to make sure her puppies dont have liver shunt, and she didnt even offer a health gurantee!!!! I was seriously insulted!!! OK, im calm......... i just needed to vent my frustrations.... |
That's outrageous! You can find them cheaper than that by a long shot. And quality too. Mine is just 3 # and she cost 800. which was very high for this part of the country. She also gave me a year guarantee, chipped her, and shots. Keep Lookiing! Pat |

let me try this again |
still doesn't seem to work - or I'm not looking in the right spot! Got the email! Thanks bunches! Julie |
Good job, orinskye!! You can rest assured that if the cost is a big deal to the breeder, you don't need their pup!! Our breeder charged a lot for Toto, yes, but she is available to us for Toto's entire life! In fact, she insisted we stay in touch with her ... she truly cares about her babies and wants to keep up with them! I can call her anytime and discuss anything with her, even trivial little things. Doing your research will pay off in the long run! We had read so many books and done so much research before we found Toto that we felt very well informed. We have learned since then that we really didn't know "squat"!! :) We learn something new almost every day about these wonderful little creatures!! Stay encouraged, you will find the right one! ;) |
Me either, says page can't be displayed. Here's my E-mail address! Thanks! patpiperjo@in-tch.com |
Nope still can't get it either. Will wait for your e-mail! Thanks! Pat |
Hate to be a bug a boo, but I would love one too! :D nichole_mcgrew@msn.com |

thanks for all the support :D i was pleased with myself when i told that nasty breeder to take a hike, lol..... i also told her that i am sure to find a better quality pup than what she could ever offer me anyways  Couldnt help myself...... i just had to say it..... she was sooooooooo mean. |
Hello Hello I am new here. Well I don't have a full breed yorkie. I have a yorkie poo. I really wanted a full yorkie but couldnt find anything cheaper then $900 in this area till today I found one for $375 and I tried to beg to get it but we would have to have 4 less cats lol. We paid $350 got our yorkie poo. He is such a doll tho and I am so glad we found him. |
Hi everyone...after reading this thread I really feel like a dummy.. When I got Kady at the pet shop I later learned from my vet that she was from a puppy mill. I would never knowingly support puppy mill's...and I didn't realize I could have had her already fixed, chipped, checked for shunting (?), vacinnated, etc. if I had gotten one from a breeder. (But then again, I wouldn't have ended up with my Kady.) Just wanted to add here that she was $800.00 at 8 weeks, and she now weighs 9 1/2 lbs. We live in PA. I would like another playmate for her, but from the local paper looks like they range 850-1,200 |
sarah, your dog is way way too cute!! I love your nick names, why is it we never call them by the given name? LOL welcome!! |
my brownie 20 pounds and hes not fat |
A 20 lb yorkie??!!! Now I would LOVE to see pictures of that!! May I have a peek Brownie's mom??? :) |
Or Course Hes In The Gallery And In The Post Im New Here:) Hes Not Fat Thats The Thing Hes Just Big Lol |
Gee! He is really cute! He certainly is a Yorkie. I never knew they got that big. Of course, I read in England where they first had them for catching rats that they were big. Not all of them have been bred down, I guess. That is a good thing. We humans tend to mess with genetics to fit our likes and dislikes. At any rate he looks like a great dog! |
