When Emma was a puppy, she went just about everywhere with me, except restaurants. Health codes are much stricter there than anywhere else. She's been to the mall, the fabric store, the library, to my office (sleeps in my file drawer) and even to the grocery store several times. At first, my husband said I probably shouldn't take her to the grocery store, but then I had to a couple of times on the way home from other errands when I already had her with me. My argument there is that you NEVER know what kind of germs are in a grocery store, or anywhere else for that matter. You can't tell me that my yorkies, who are properly vaccinated, bathed, and groomed have more germs and parasites than a grubby 6 year old boy, who has been catching frogs in a local swamp all day, has the beginnings of a cold, hasn't washed his hands in 3 days, and probably has head lice. And HE'S allowed in the grocery store! |

I am not brave enough, and Paddington isn't quite small enough (a little over 4 lbs) to sneak into places. He usually pops his head out of his purses, so it makes it kind of hard. I do, however, put him in his purse when I am at the apartment that my boyfriend and I share. Our Landlord lives on the property (actually right above us:rolleyes: ), and the last time he saw me and Paddington he wasn't very happy. We paid a pet deposit, but that was for a cat that we don't have anymore... we aren't sure if we're allowed to have dogs lol. Anyway, he sits in his purse when we walk from the car to the apartment, and one time I met my neighbor on the elevator. When we got to our doors he asked where my dog was, I told him in my purse... he had no idea, and the dog was right next to him the whole time! What is funny is that this particular one has mesh on the sides so that the dog can look out, and you can see right through it. People just don't expect to see a dog, so they don't notice it! -O |

Murfee goes with me quite often. He HATES the purse type carriers but does pretty good in the front riding ones. I have snuck him in Walmart a couple of times when there was not other choice but I have also been asked to removed my animal at Walmart....he is NOT an animal but my baby. When I was in the hospital recently, my daughter snuck him in twice and then when I went into rehab she snuck him in there too but really most nurses and therapists knew he was there and came in a played with him and guarded the door for intruders. When he is in his front carrier that all four legs are out, most stores just think he is cute and let him in and coo over him...clothing stores, book stores, malls, Lowes. My theory is all they can do is ask us to leave and then we do. Murfee is 5 lbs. so it doesn't just have to be the reallly tiny ones. Patty |
all the time! I have taken Lillie to Restaurants, malls, stores, places that say "no dogs allowed" We went on a weekend getaway last weekend and went to walk on this river walk, it said "No pet's allowed" well what am I suppose to do, leave them in the hot van? I think not! So I took them and I said let them kick me off! No one said a word, just a lot of aww'ing! If you have a carrier, I say go for it, worse they will do is ask you to leave! |
when i first got my baby, we took him everywhere with us, resturants, malls, movies. he';s so quiet, not a peek from him. but there;s been a couple of times where they kicked us out. \ |
I have snuck Jewels into Target a couple of times. I always go through the drive thru at Starbucks or would have snuck her in there too |
Whats in ur purse??? I sneak Bella everywhere. Diggy too out of control yet. MAYBE when he grows up. I have never been told no. I even took Bella to a baseball tourney where they had a big ole sign that says no Dogs!!! when paying to get in the guy said no dogs, I said yeah good thing she is a lil princess and not a dog! He laughed and said just make sure you clean up after her I said will do! :aimeeyork |

Please be considerate of others and don't sneak a dog in. (stepping off my soapbox now) ;) |
Yorkie is so small in general!! We should allow to carry pets in store as long as they are in a purse or something!! Chloe and I are going on a road trip later (1st together) I am so excited but nervous at the same time!! Hopefully she will behave (she does usually, doesn't bark a lot) Anyone live in Chicago area? I am actually going to the Chicago area today..any place that allows dog?? |
I don't think I'd bring him into a restaurant though, he'd be crying and kicking cuase he would want to get some of the food and then he would give me away! Usually I take him to places that have a lot of noise and people and commoion going on so most people do not even realize or pay attention. But most places won't bother you anyway even if they know. The only exception is Wal Mart, they get super mad and make you leave on the spot. Which is okay, because after all, I broke the rules, but they are really really serious about it so I wouldn't try there in the future just to let you know You also get away with a lot more if your dog is smaller so I have a little disadvantage with that |

When we are home, I don't even attempt to take her to the grocery store. :) |
