| Ears Eury is my first Yorkie and is my baby. Sometimes her ears are up, sometimes down and our favorite... floppy when she runs. LOL This got me thinking, why do peeps want their Yorkie's ears to stand up? Is this an ideal breed look thing based on AKC standards? Thanks! Chelle |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Bengi's ears went down when he was about 4 months old, but then they when back up. Just keep them trimmed so the hair does not pu weight on them. |

My Lil Man! Donating Member | The ears are cute down when they are young especially cute when half up and tip flopped down. However, once they get older the cuteness isnt as cute. IMO. I kept the tip of my baby's ears shaved to get them to stand up when he was young. Those big ears on lil head when they are young is so cute! Lol. I think the ears standing up is for the most part the standard/traditional yorkie look. Goodluck with your new baby!!! |

| Eury is almost 4 months old. I talked to the hubby and we agreed that besides regular grooming we aren't gonna worry about the ears and getting them to stand up. My previous pooch was a lab/shepherd mix and she had floppy ears and it was adorable! So if the ears go up, kewl, if they are floppy, kewl. Eury is adorable no matter what her ears do. | thanks wow...you guys made me feel a lot better...my puppy's ears droop and he is11.5 weeks old...i always felt bad because the breeder said they should stand erect and thats what i always read....then i started to get worried that mmaybe my baby wasn't normal or cute enough to fit the standard....im glad so many people agree that they are adorable and erect ears aren't enormously important! |

| Ears Tricksie is 9 months old and her ear language is so funny, she reminds me of a lama. When she heard my husband snore for the first time, she looked at him, the ears went up, then out, almost crossed. When she wants love they lay down and when she is trouble they really lay down. Then she flops and puts her paw over her head. Most precious thing I ever had.

| It's their standard... ...Under normal circumstances, Yorkies have 'permanent up' ears. They are down (floppy) from birth basically and then go through a stage of ''up and down'' or ''one up and one down'' for a month [at 3 months] and finally they stay ''perked up'' usually at 4-5 months. All dogs are different and may be earlier or late bloomers. (My Daisy was a late bloomer ) Her ears went up and stayed up at around 5 months. Here are pics of Daisy and her ears when she was ~3 months, in between, and 5 months.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | Yes, they are all different.... Bella's ears never fell at all...Breeder said they were up from day one and she is now 2 and still the perkiest lil things....Diggy he is just up down up down....They seem to be really firmly up now...I think they are up for good and he is 4 months old. here he is floppy....then took a 45 minute nap....and tada up!!! We still laugh about it and say oh the just need a 45 minute nap....

| Eury's ears do that.. it's so adorable! I told my husband about Tricksie's ears and that some people trim the fur and even tape ears so they stand upright. He said he hope's Eury's ears are like Tricksie's, that it makes her expressions so much funnier. Chelle Last edited by Chelle; 06-29-2007 at 04:05 PM. |

| Lacy's ears were up and down for a while before they finally stood on their own. I very much prefer for their ears to be erect since that is the standard, and I think they look more like a yorkie when they are up instead of down.
