My moms friend has two a male and female and the female is pregnant and were going to be getting one of the puppies. and i talked to my mom about when they can come home and can eat , drink without there mom and she thought it might be 8 weeks? Can someone clerify and dumb question since there a small dog lol but are they still really tiny at the age there ready to come home? Thanks incase this helps , one of the parents is a teacup and my mom thinks the other is too but one we know for sure is a teacup.

| Hi Kara, I think it's wonderful that you're asking questions...Typically, the pups should not leave their mothers and littermates until they are twelve weeks old...Even though they are already weaned earlier than this, it is important that they get this socialization time. They learn alot from the mother and littermates. Just so you know, there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie. There is only one kind of yorkie, and that's a toy yorkie. Yes, there are some smaller ones, and yes there are some larger ones, but as far as classification by the AKC, there are only toy yorkies. Small or large, they're all yorkies I hope that the mom is not a "teacup" because if she is under 4-5 lbs, she really should not have been bred...It's very dangerous, and her life could be on the line when it comes to giving birth to the pups. As far as the pups go, I'm sure you're super excited!! I know I was whenever we were getting our yorkie. They're such wonderful babies. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions!!

| I hope you didn't take that the wrong way!!! I was just telling you that it's possible for the mom to have complications with the pups. I pray that the birth runs smoothly

| I just got rid of 2 litters. 8 puppies I let them go at 10 wks If they are ready to go ..eating on there own an such. 8 wks is ok. But my Vet said 10 wks is better.. because those few extra weeks they learn alot from there mothers about being an dog. That is ture..for my litters.
