Bentley always sleeps in bed with me or brett... b/c that's where he likes to be. and i woke up around 3:30 because of loud thunder...Bentley had been woken up too and acted like he wanted on the floor so i put him down.. he ran and grabbed a pig ear he's been chewing on for a few days.. i figured okay that will calm him down a bit..so i put him back up on the bed ..around 5am i'm woke up by a choking dog!!! TALK ABOUT FREAKED OUT!! brett grabbed him and started trying to pat him...he could still breathe but you could tell there was something loged in his throat.. brett made him eat 2 treats b/c we were trying to get him to throw up... after about 3mins Bentley finally throws up...twice at that!! now he seems to be doing good...just a little scared! i'm so glad he's okay..i know it's my fault to for letting him still have it after it got small...

Thank you so much for the warning. I hope Bentley didn't suffer any long term damage from it. I only give Maggie Pigs Ears too. They won't clog the intestines like the rawhide. I will watch the size of her pigs ears in the future. When they get whittled down, then down to the trash they will go.

Choking is one of my worst fears for our babies and I don't give greenies, rawhides or pigs ears. I am probably a bit over protective and paranoid, but I can't help it. These stories scare me too much.

I recently had an incident with Chai when I gave her one of those dried chicken pieces they sell. She came to me scratching at her mouth and yelping, obviously in distress and, at first I couldn't tell what was wrong eith her and then I realized that the dried chicken piece was stuck on the roof of her mouth wedged between her teeth. I had to get my daughter to help me and we opened her mouth and pulled it out. Even that was scary and she wasn't choking!

So glad Bentley is fine!

yeah it was def. a lesson learned! i know now i'm gonna have to watch him if he has things he might swallow.. i dont think there will be any long term damage.. we called the vet this morning and told him what had happened..and he said as long as he threw it back up he should be fine! He goes in next week for his last shots anyway so he will look at him then!
