| I work in a hospital and I assure you that doctors stick together but I think your vet was giving this guy the benefit of a doubt. A doctor shouldn't second guess another doctor. Advice should be based on an examination so don't be too far down on your vet. Don't look for anyone else if you are happy with her just make sure you see only her when you go in. You can ask her about it the next time you see her. As far as the vomiting...my three have spells like that (all for different reasons.) Adie hates rice so I usually skip a feeding then give her boiled ground beef. The shepherd gets Kayopectate and the Shi tzu has to go off her food for 24 hours then start eating again with boiled meat or baby food. She LOVES baby food. Good luck. |

| This brings back the memory of our first yorkie, Molly Muffins and the first time she was throwing up the foamy yellow bile and us taking her in to see her vet. They recommended x-rays too, and what we learned is that Molly was constipated. You could see the poop back-up (LOL) right in the x-ray! I think he gave her some laxatone to help her pass a stool. It was a relief that it wasn't an object lodged in her. Of course, this was 11 years ago, and we only paid $100-$150 dollars. But think about the opposite effect. Your vet does NOT propose an x-ray, you go home to more illness, vomiting, and you go back to a second opinion and THEN you learn there is something lodged. NOW you are really angry that the vet didn't suggest this the FIRST time. Vets like to cover all the bases. My suggestion would be to speak up and advocate for yourself immediately. Instead of stewing quietly about it. Ask questions-lots of them! Make that vet work for those $540 dollars! "Why do you need EIGHT (!) x-rays?" "Is this a lot of radiation for such a small sized dog?" "Can you just do a couple of x-rays,since that is what I can afford?" "$540 is a lot of money for me and much more than I anticipated. Can you reccommend another place where I can receive treatment for less money?" My own vet actually has a big pricing book. When we were debating which diagnostic treatments to do for our Molly when she had cancer, he happily brought the price book in to show us these fees were all standard amounts. He does not charge prices randomly. Every single procedure is in his book with a cost next to it. He would tell us that in his opinion, the minimum we could do was 'A', but if we would like to do 'B', which cost X amount more, he would have a bit more information gathered to help him make a diagnosis. It was up to us. I love my vet! I think we all need to have complete trust and faith in our vets, or find another one.

| I switched vets from my first yorkie after 12 years because I could never get out of there without it being under $200. They kept adding vets, expanding, I think they had machines to pay for and a LOT of overhead. My mom and pop vet now seem very good and not so over the top. I think 8 xrays are overdone. I expect being a vet is a very difficult job, because if you miss something, it could be bad. It's hard to know what to do sometimes. |

| My Coco has this every 3-5 months. She just randomly throws up, and has diarrhea. I've taken her to the vet, with blood work, xrays, tests up the butt only to discover she had an upset tummy. So if she is playing, eating and pooping normal, just keep her on a bland diet and keep an eye on her. I'm sre she'll be just fine. It usually takes coco 3 days or so to recover.

| I am so releaved to have found YT! Yesterday, I was so worried that I had done the wrong thing by not getting the xrays but after hearing from so many of you that have had your babies for a bit longer than me and hearing that you all have had some similar experiances with the vomit it reassures me Bailey will probably be just fine! I kept a close eye on her last night and made sure she was eating and drinking and using the restroom, she didnt throw up last night and im sure shes going to be just fine! | I think yorkie throw up once in a while. My vet told me to give mine cottage cheese or yogurt. I have even started to notice the signs that it is coming. She acts droopy and wants to eat grass. They love cottage as a treat, so why not. I just give them a teaspoon or two. |

| Kinda wondering if your vet needed a payment on their condo at the beach or a boat payment, or planned on getting more office equipment. Geez, thats a lot of x-rays for stomach....imho.But then again, I have no clue what x-rays cost. Not sure I have that many during mamograms! |
