The "W" in Christmas

Each December, I vowed to make Christmas a calm
and peaceful experience. I had cut back on
nonessential obligations -
extensive card writing, endless baking, decorating,
and even
overspending. Yet still, I found myself exhausted,
unable to appreciate the
precious family moments, and of course, the true
meaning of Christmas. My
son, Nicholas, was in kindergarten that year. It was
an exciting
season for a six year old. For weeks, he'd been
memorizing songs for his
school's "Winter Pageant." I didn't have the heart
to tell him I'd be
working the night of the production. Unwilling to
miss his shining
moment, I spoke with his teacher. She assured me
there'd be a dress rehearsal
the morning of the presentation. All parents unable
to attend that
evening were welcome to come then. Fortunately,
Nicholas seemed happy
with the compromise. So, the morning of the dress
rehearsal, I filed in
ten minutes early, found a spot on the cafeteria
floor and sat down.
Around the room, I saw several other parents quietly
scampering to their
seats. As I waited, the students were led into the
room. Each class,
accompanied by their teacher, sat cross-legged on the
floor. Then, each
group, one by one, rose to perform their song.
Because the public
school system had long stopped referring to the
holiday as "Christmas," I
didn't expect anything other than fun, commercial
entertainment songs of
reindeer, Santa Claus, snowflakes and good cheer.
So, when my son's
class rose to sing, "Christmas Love," I was slightly
taken aback by its
bold title. Nicholas was aglow, as were all of his
classmates, adorned
in fuzzy mittens, red sweaters, and bright snowcaps
upon their heads.
Those in the front row- center stage - held up large
letters, one by
one, to spell out the title of the song. As the
class would sing "C is
for Christmas," a child would hold up the letter C.
Then, "H is for
Happy," and on and on, until each child holding up
his portion had
presented the complete message, "Christmas Love."
The performance was going
smoothly, until suddenly, we noticed her; a small,
quiet, girl in the
front row holding the letter "M" upside down -
totally unaware her letter
"M" appeared as a "W". The audience of 1st through
6th graders
snickered at this little one's mistake. But she had
no idea they were laughing
at her, so she stood tall, proudly holding her "W".
Although many
teachers tried to shush the children, the laughter
continued until the
last letter was raised, and we all saw it together.

A hush came over the audience and eyes began to
widen. In that
instant, we understood the reason we were there, why
we celebrated the
holiday in the first place, why even in the chaos,
there was a purpose for
our festivities. For when the last letter was held
high, the message
read loud and clear: "C H R I S T W A S L O V E"
And, I believe, He
still is. Amazed in His presence... .humbled by His
love. Again, HAVE A
BLESSED HOLIDAY SEASON!
Aaaahhhhh...I loved that story! Gives us all food for thought. That little girl was a true Christmas angel, so sweet.

Hi everyone, we hopped aboard to see who was all here. Hope you all have enjoyed baking and indulging in the marvelous treats we all seem to put together this time of the year. Gosh, isn't it fun to share each others bakings
Tomorrow will be my baking day to take to Jack's Dr. and his two nurses the following day it will be an all day task as I make them each a huge basket of EVERYTHING, and love every minute of doing it. In fact on Jack's last visit the two nurses ask me if I was baking for them this year, "yes I am," their faces lit up like a Christmas Tree. They gave me their special requests

RYORKIE,
that poem is beautiful I have copied and pasted to many of our email friends, thank you again for sharing it with us.

Papi and Everyone
we wish you each a Blessed Merry Christmas.
Patti and Jack and girls.

Dear Papi,

I am hoping that if you or someone close to you reads this post, you will see that we are in desperate need for a " Moment of Pleasure " with you.
There are so many of us who miss you and hope you are well.
If at all possible, please take a moment to let us know that you and Patticake are okay.
Even the smallest of notes will be cherished.
Papi, until then, I will continue to pray for you and send prayers of healing, light and peace.

Hugs ... Janie

Love My Friends - Precious Patticake is alive and well

A warm and appreciative hello my YorkieTalk friends from Papi and Patticake.

Please forgive us for our long absence, it's been a long difficult journey, and sadly I still have not fully recovered, if it wasn't for Patticake I doubt if I would still be alive, she got me up and walking again though still have problems with my legs, having her forced me to get up everyday, take her for her walks 3 to 4 times a day, truly I would have stagnated, withered away without her, doubt very much I would be here to write this post, though I credit Patticake for much of my recovery, my friends, Patti, Jack, Joan, Patti Shirley, Elaine, Lori, Bre and all here who supported me with many cards, email's of your well wishes, your patience and kindness was without bounds, and would like you all to know how deeply your prayer's, thoughfulness accomplished in my healing, not so much my physical healing, more so with the deep, dark psychological state I fell into, it has been a nighmare I'm slowly coming out of as this post attest to, I'm not there yet but being able, and willing to come in here is a good sign.

May I add a grateful and appreciative, heartfelt thank you to Elaine and her family who came all the way out from Pennsylvania to check on Patticake and I last year, it was a wonderful, welcome surprise, and Joan, a dear, dear lady who has been to visit Patticake and I twice this year, how welcome and appreciated your visits were, I will never forget your love and kindness, you sincerely raised my spirits as you all did my friends with the un ending deluge of cards, that continue to come, I do not have the words, nor can I express how I sincerely, deeply appreciate the love, kindness, thoughfulness shown Patticake and I, and your patience when not hearing from us our inability to communicate, thank you my dear friends, thank you from my heart.

Patti, Jack I thank you my dear friends, even in your pain, sufferings, in my failure to respond, you never gave up on Patticake and I , thank you for all your phone calls, your email's, please my friend forgive me.

Brenda, my friends, I am adding some images of Patticake taken in May, she is so very dear and precious, in fact she seems so much like Kassie Kisse's at times I beleive she is the reincarnation of Kassie, when we climb hill in back here where Kassie's Rock is, she heads straight for it, I sense I have two Yorkie's in one, she is just so beautiful, thank you ever so much my friends who made Paticake possible in my life, thank you very, very much.

Please, please if I can't repond to all your post, please forgive me in advance, I'm still not up to par.

My well wishes, good health, to each and everyone of you and your precious Yorkie's.

Thank you for your patience.

Patti, Jack, I will be calling you this evening.

Humbly, Gratefully yours

Papi
