I've just spent the last few hrs reading almost every posting I can to catch me up on what is happening. My heart is breaking, then racing and now I am praying so hard that all of this will be over safely and quickly and Zeke will be back home soon!!! OMG - I sure hope so!!

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Maureen. I wish I was closer so I could help in any way you need it!! Don't give up - never give up!! It's amazing what can be accomplished by those who keep a positive attitude. And especially if "those" are women with a purpose! Like Maxine says: "I am woman - fear me more!!"

I understand all too well about the police.
Yes there are some very good cops out there but unfortunately in this case, she doesn't have time to find out which one that is.
My dad was a Narcotics Detective for 30 years.
If she has the papers for Zeke then that's all the proof she needs to get her baby back.

Maureen could not be prosecuted for just looking at an envelope. It is only a federal offence if she tampers with the mail.

hire a private investigator..if they still have him sooner or later he will be seen. they can't keep him hid all the time.

It is absolutely all the proof she needs and he is microchipped however I am concerned as others are that they will move Zeke to another relative if it is not handled properly. I think if Kathy's brother in law agreed to call the PD in Modesto and explain the situation to one of the officers they would help as it is a brotherhood thing as you know having detective for a dad.

i think it's tampering if you get into their mailbox at all, but i could be mistaken. it's a risk i think.

if you click on the "address" link, then type in the info, if the number is listed, then the next page shows not only the tel number, but the name of the person it belongs to.

I agree lauren but since these people stole her dog they just might lie and say she did tamper with their mail, that is my concern. I guess I am just getting paranoid as Maureen is so close and we are so far away and we are helpless. I did not mean to sound like a jerk. Sorry.

well, i did the reverse address, and there were no matches as much as it kills me, i have to go to sleep now because i signed up for an extra course at school and i have to wake up early tomorrow. i'll be checking this thread first thing in the morning. GOOD LUCK!

THe problem is that in order to prove that it even IS her dog, a dog has to be produced! If they move him somewhere else, that's not going to happen.

Maureen remember the law is on your side, which ever way you decide to play this out.
With or without officers assistance.
Zeke is considered personal property to you, so they broke the law the second they took him.
It doesn't matter where Zeke was.
If they were responsible ,good ,law abiding ,citizens, they would have taken Zeke to the nearest police station and told them they found a lost dog.
Its obvious Zeke isn't a stray dog....
He is a well kept purebred...which eliminates him being homeless.
I'm going to the store real quick to get a pack of cigarettes.
I pray within that time Zeke is in your arms.
