| Insurance? Well, a random Construction worker was at my house today for some repairs and I told him what happened to Missy a couple days ago and he insisted that we should get Insurance for her. I guess it's health insurance? so that it can cover her expenses every check up? I always see Brochures, but forget to grab one from the hospital. Anybody have insurance for their little ones? The construction worker said he pays around 45 bucks a month. I think thats pretty good. Within this month I've probably spent about $1700 on Missy. And I still never paid her off.... but she's not due in a while so I tend to take my time with her payments lol. Some feedback on this would be much appreciated!!! |

| I have the pet insurance for my Teddi. I got it the week after I got her. I figured for how much I spent on her I should get the insurance. The kind I have is called VPI pet insurance. We get a discount through work and it comes out of my pay check. I don't know if that insurance company works in Canada though. Also, I don't know what was wrong with your dog but it may not cover your dog is it has pre-existing conditions that it has been seen for already. Hope that helps. I figured it was good to have it in case something major happens - that it would help with the costs. |

| The first few months I had Tia, she cost me around $1500 with two ER visits and kennel cough turned into pneumonia. I did some research and decided to go for it. I pay $20 a month, which doesn't include the yearly vaccines, etc, but I thought it would be good to have in the event of an emergency. I am fortunate enough to have a vet that comes to my house to do things like vaccines and heartworm, etc, which is nice with 3 dogs and 2 cats. Anyway, when I got the 2nd yorkie, I put him on the insurance right away. I haven't had to use it yet...thank god...but it's there just in case. II pay $40 total per month. |

| I've heard that VPI does not cover very much. I'm not sure though, I have never checked into it myself. I'm just going on hearsay. |

| I got disapointed with VPI when I found out that Lilo has LP. And at the same point in time, I found out that they DON'T cover LP or anything related to it. ( Also after spending almost $500 on her spaying, they send me a check for $90 . I think it's good only for your piece of mind, and in case of accidents.

| If you have a petsmart near you with a pet hospital, check out their insurance! My aunt had it on one of her dogs, was paying like $40 a month and it covered everything, she only had to pay her co-pay which was something like $15 per visit! She dropped the insurance once her dog was 2 and pretty much out of the woods is what she said (she has a large breed Rott./Boxer mix). Now she is thinking of getting it again beings he is now hitting his senior years. I'm not sure if their policies are the same as they were then but it is worth checking out. Here is the link to what they cover. http://www.petsmart.com/banfield/index.shtml here is the link to VPI http://www.petinsurance.com/ and a third option http://www.petshealthplan.com/
