neighbours We are having problems with our neighbours and I guess hat I just need to vent.We live in a maisonette building with small backyards and i can,t put Zeus out there because of them.Yesterday Zeus ran out into the yard when I let the cat in. I let him stay out for a short time and he barked when someone went by. The neighbour turned a hose on him and became quite abusive when my husband reacted. The dog is hardly ever out in the yard because of them and has never been out barking early morning or late at night. How do I cope with this? These same neighbours don,t even like it when my grandchildren come over. |
I say get your hose and turn it on them -O |

They had no right to do that. I would have let them have it |
I am so sorry to hear that you have such rotten neighbors! They sound horrible to be bothered by a little bit of barking. I don't really have any advice, but as long as it's not early morning or late evenings your dog has every right to be out in your yard and barking is what dogs do! I had my neighbors once throw rocks at my dog for barking, luckily they moved and our new neighbors don't have a problem with my dogs. Good luck! |
I HATE lousy neighbors! They can make your life miserable sometimes. I had such rotten kids living next door to me last year...I moved! Your neighbor sounds nutty. I would definitely never trust him/her...you never know what they might do to your pup. I know it's not easy to just pick up stakes and move...but it was SOOO worth it for me. Good luck. |

I never understand people who move into neighborhoods and they obviously don't like people or pets. |
I would not put up with that! If it is your yard put your dog out. Screw them! |
Why don't all of us NY girls come over and teach your neighbor some manners? :D |

I'm a very calm person but if someone had turned a hose on one of my babies....you can rest assured somebody would have gotten a "mouthful" from me!!! |
NY'er here - Can't imagine my reaction to that - I agree - you should sit - hose in hand and wait - who the blanky de blank do they think they are? What gives them the right to hose your dog. - OH MAN WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO!!!!!! |

haha - the Yorkie MAFIA Strikes again ! Go girls - I'm in Texas but would be there in spirit |
These people sound as nuts as some I have met under other extremely annoying circumstances:eek: . Luckily I have not had any problems with my doggies and we live in an apartment with neighbors all around. I would take the extra step to contact the local enforcement department that covers dog owners laws and responsibilities and RIGHTS!!!. I would of course be very careful that you are always with your little peanut when out doors but I would in NO WAY let this nut case interfere with your taking this little guy or girl out doors. And if they get VIOLENT again I would definitely call the police and file a complaint. They have a problem that is not your problem....don't make it yours. Turn it over to those that can help. Good luck....hope it works out and enjoy YOUR yard with your dog. Tina |
Turn the hose on him? Are they nuts? The nerve! I would have been pissed to say the least. Put yourself out there in a chair and just let him bark his ass off! Dogs bark! Not a darn thing you can do about it during the day. As long as your allowed to have a pet don't worry about it. 15mins a day should get even with them. |

I'm so glad we have no close neighbors here in the country. I can usually hold my mouth when I need to, but I'm afraid I would have been physical if this were to happen. I would've wrapped that hose around their neck and shoved the end down their freak'n throat! At least, if it ever happens again, call the cops for animal abuse. |
Hold on everyone; This problem is not just a case of spite and revenge. It is a case where one neighbor is bullying another. Gramma do these people work nights and get upset if someone wakes them during the day? Do you own or rent? The very least you should do is have a face to face with them and tell them that you have the right to have a dog and the dog has the right to bark within reason. You can't let them control any part of your life. You shouldn't have to worry about your dog or your grandchildren making too much noise during the middle of the day so stop it! Tell them you will not put up with their nonsense and if they have any complaints then they can take them to the authorities in the proper manner using the procedure. Just my two pennies Lou PS If you do get a posse together I am in! |
I had neighbors do this to my dogs. They were too stupid to realize all they were doing was aggravating my dogs and making it worse. Plus, to make matters worse, my neighbors would tease my dogs. I would hear Bo and Duncan outside barking and I would be in front and couldn't get to them in time before they barked, open the door to let them in and have two wet dogs. Thank god I have moved and the townhome I live in now the people are a little more stable and understanding. |
Actually, deah, heah in Virginia we would take over a couple of iced teas and a plate of brownies (made with X-lax). |
