Suggestions PLEASE... what other breed??? Ok,my boyfriend and I live together in a condo (2 bed) about 1400 sq feet. We have just our one dog (bailey) She is 1.9 lbs and 7 mo. old... So she is pretty small. We have been thinking alot lately about getting a second dog but we arent sure of what dog to get... All we know is that we want one that is going to be medium- medium/large sized.... Our main concern of course is the safety of our baby girl bailey (we dont want to get a dog that might hurt her) So we need a dog that gets along well with yorkies... We dont really have a yard BUT we would be taking the dog to the dog park everyday and taking it on dailey walks.... My boyfriend wants a dog that will run around with him and play fetch... ect. Any ideas? What kind of dogs do you all have (aside from yorkies) Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANKS! |
my suggestion is a TEAPOT yorkie... my Tootie is 16 lbs, VERY durable but yet gets along with Hope so well! Hope is just making 5 lbs.. He is big enough that he can rough house with my lab and hubbie but still a precious baby! He and Hope are inseparable and do very well togeter... d |
What about a cocker spaniel? |
Or a miniature schnauzer (if you want a shedless dog). |
1 Attachment(s) I have a standard poodle and they get along great. |
My vote is a teapot!!!! If no to the teapot, Beagle? They always seem sooo nice and laid back. |
I'd get a bigger yorkie:) |
i want another yorkie but my boyfriend wants a bigger dog.... Like 30-80 lbs... He wants one he can take to the lake and go swimming with, run around (hes very active) and do flyball... frisbee ect. When we were looking for our first dog and ended up getting bailey (my little purse girl) I won... now im finally letting him get a dog he wants which he refers to as a "manly dog" but it has to be something that will be okay with bailey.... =) |
It's my experience that yorkies & boxers get on very well together. |
My daughter has a lab that Jake gets along very well with. In fact, the lab is very protective of Jake. But, she has her own house, they don't live in the same house. Not sure how they would be if they lived together, but they sure do have fun when we get them together on weekends. |
How about a West Highland Terrier?? |
Mini Schnauzer I have a mini schnauzer. It does not shed AT ALL! She has an awesome personality. Very loyal. The most loveing dog I have ever owned. |

Boxer Doberman Lab Pittbull Australian shephard (those are a few) any feedback about any of these breeds... I know that pittbulls are known to have some aggression problems.... I also know that it all depends on the owner but i would rather not take a chance with a pittbull.... i dunnno.... lol thanks for all the feedback so far! |
Good luck on your decision! |
Besides my yorkie, I have a greaT dane and a standard poodle, my daughter has her two dogs here most of the time another yorkie and a poodle mix... Love them all!!! Nancy, Sami and Lily |
