| RosieRomeosmom | 06-24-2007 07:03 PM | Chocolate Lab all the way! I was in the exact same situation - I have my two Yorkie Babies - Rosie is now 4 yrs old and only 4 lbs, and Romeo is 3 yrs old and 10 lbs. My husband wanted a "manly" dog that he could hunt with, take to the beach, etc., and so we got CocoaBaby, or adorable, lovable, choc. lab. Yes, you do have to watch them during the puppy stage, but let me tell you - Rosie doesn't put up with ANYthing from Cocoa! Cocoa is now 8 months old and 60 lbs, and submits to Rosie every time! :) The biggest piece of advice we listened to from our vet was when you have a dog as little as Rosie and plan on getting a big dog, let the little dog run the show. So even as a puppy, (Cocoa was 11 lbs at 8 weeks when we got her), if she stepped out of line, we let Rosie correct her. (I mean, within reason. Rosie has never been a nippy dog so we were never afraid she would hurt Cocoa.) |
