| Ok, I need more help...... This is my second post here at Yorkie talk, and everyone was very helpful. the first time. But....she has not stopped BARKING!! It was thought that her barking in the middle of the night was due to trying to be protective. Well, that just isnt the case. The reason I know this is because of her actions this weekend. She just sits and stares at me and barks. Its sometimes just one bark, and sometimes a couple...they are more like she is trying to tell me something. But I ask her if she wants to go out...and no response. And normally if she needs to go...she will let the whole neighborhood know. Its almost like she is complaining. Its like she is talking under her breath, but it comes out louder than she expected. I am at a loss. Things like the metal bowl and spoon, and can with pennies work at the time...but it hasnt curbed her from continuing to do it. It doesnt matter if it daylight or dark. She apparently just has things to say. She looks at me like "Why do you not understand what I am saying?" It is sometimes even a muffled bark, with a slight look from the corner of her eye. She couldnt be any cuter, but man...she can be so frustrating. Should I take her to training?? Would that help the barking? Any Ideas? Thanks! |

YT 500 Club Member | Oh my goodness! We have been through this so many times. I always ask "Did Timmy fall down the well?" Then she just looks at me. Or I follow her, but she doesn't really go anywhere. I can't believe how much these little babies have to say. I wish I could understand them. We use a spray bottle (water). Now when we get it out, she stops. But, sometimes she just needs to tell us something. Usually she wants a treat to to go outdoors. But it drives me crazy because she seems to really know what she wants to say, but I just can't understand!

YT Addict | I know how you feel. LullaBelle does this sometimes too. I still don't know why she does it. I give treats, cuddles, kisses, her clothes anything I can think of but it never works. So I just take her for a walk and she will get over it. Training may not be a bad idea either. Good luck |

| So, I guess I should just resign my self to the fact that Pita just needs to get stuff off of her chest. She is probably just as frustrated with me for not understanding her. I understand her frustration!!!!! How much I would give to know what she is thinking!! My boyfriend and his kids are sure getting tired of her barking and I am afraid that they will want her out of the house. Love me, Love my animals!! I have another question...do all Yorkies shake? Pita acts like she is cold when she is upset or in an uncomfortable situation. People look at me like "put a sweater on the little thing". She just seems a bit neurotic. Is this a Yorkie thing...or just a Pita thing?? |

| When Daisy stares at me and barks I say "show me". She knows I will follow her when I say that and she takes off. She usually goes to 1. the back door to go potty, 2. the bedroom (wants me to go to bed with her), 3. she is showing me that Teddy is being a bad boy, tearing up kleenex or something, or 4. the microwave bell has rung and whatever is cooking is done and ready to eat. After I follow her she stops the barking.

| Is she in your bedroom? If you are putting her in a crate or in another room for the night ....my guess would be she is fussing because she wants to join you. Taylor does that sometimes, because he stays in the other room at night. We shake a "Bark Can" (a soft drink can with some pennies in it) and he stops. We do this when we know he has done his business....eaten....had water and is fine...and it is only because he's throwing a mini-tantrum. Most of the time he's great...but they all get in a mood at times. |

| She is in the room with us...she goes everywhere with us. She is never really alone...but she might find her self in a crate at night if she doesnt stop. I would hate to do that. She is a great little dog...except for the barking. Very happy and adventurous. |
