Heidi's family got jealous b/c she was with me all the time....she stayed with me, even though I even told her she needed to talk to her family more.

her friends got jealous she wasn't around anymore...even gave her an ultimatum...and I'm still here.

They were both "no-brainer" decisions....we're both humans, so our bond is the most important.

Oh, and telling me not to scold it for going on the carpet?? Don't get mad at ME for that, Heidi does a ton of that scolding too. She puts it in the crate for punishment more often than me.

As for the communication with a newborn child... it's kinda difficult too... you will experience that when you walk up and down all night and try to figure out why he/she is crying... and crying... and crying...... until you feel "rehoming" might be a good idea...

"Rehoming" won't happen anytime soon...even fi we did...the argument that we paid so much money for it would come up....and that it was money wasted...the only thing we could do is try to re-sell the dog, but by then he wouldn't be a puppy anymore and people dont' seem to pay much for adults...

Nodak, you should never put a dog in a crate for punishment. That is their den and a safe place. You wouldn't want him to stop liking his crate, would you?

As long as the dog (what is his name?) is not hurting you, why not just keep him for Heidi? He may or may not warm up to you but does that really matter? At the same time if you two can't find more time to spend with him maybe you should rehome him. Four to five hours a day with a puppy is not long enough. On top of that you have Chris and Heidi time which is fine (I'm all for strong relationships) but that takes more time away from him. I am gone for maybe 10 hours a week and when I leave my Yorkie is devastated. They need a lot of attention.

It's not my fault her friends and family got jealous. They were used to having her around all the time..then she wasn't. But you'll have to note the part where I mentioned I told Heidi she shoudl spend more time around her family. Again, can't place that one on me. I'm like Teflon there.
