Eagle Nest

So I am all happy reading the news paper about another Eagle nest being found in our community....We have I think 4 now. One is one the river right outside my kids school so we get to see them often and how beautiful it is.....BUT this particular nest they found was discovered last week. So DNR proclaimed it a protected area, when they went into the nest to see if there were eggs, or signs of eggs, they found a dog collar......Not sure if it had tags or anything yet they have not released this info....my heart just breaks at the thougth of what some pet owner may find out.....

That's very sad. It is a wonderful thing that the Eagles have returned
to our area as well. They are nesting along the Hudson River and one
flew by my window months ago and I just could not believe what I was
seeing. It was beautiful.
It amazes me how people still leave their toy dogs outside unattended
even after reading horror stories. I guess they think it will never happen to them. Poor pups left alone with no defense for these preditors.

I also feel bad for the pet owner - but that poor baby - I just can't even imagine how scared it was - Gotta love the eagles - but we as pet owners need to protect our pups.

Yep....We live on Lake Erie and River Raisin....1 nest 1.5 miles from my house and the one with dog collar is just about 3-4 miles, im guessing.....we also have Hawks EVERYWHERE (cooper's, redtail, buzzard, red shoulder....) I think I got those names right ...lol anyway....toy pet owners around here need to be more careful! There was an eagle soaring above the golf course, and people in the club house WATCHED an eagle pick a pug up about 10 feet off ground and dropped him.....He punctured a lung and a few bones broke in leg.....He must have been a lil heavier than eagle anticipated or didnt get good enuff grip....either way scary!!!!!!!

For Cripes sake! The things we have to worry about with these babies.....Someone coming in and stealing them, unleashed dogs thinking they are rabbits or squirrels and attacking them, and now we've got the air attack. I'm gonna build my boys a little tank for them to cruise around the neighborhood in, safe from all enemies!!! I'll PM you later with an update on Otis Diggy, thanks for asking! Keep an "eagle eye" out and keep those babies safe!

lol I love your posts you think like I do.....I was thinking more along the lines of putting them in a giant bubble gas prices are too high for a tank...lol

Nice to hear about so many eagles around, but not so nice to hear about animal owners not watching over and protecting their pets.
