| Coat colors? Quick question...if your yorkie is going to change colors when should this change be complete? My little boy has been the same color since birth except for the crown of his head is charcoal color, otherwise he is still black and tan. His daddy is black & tan/red but his mom is silver and blond. Most of his siblings from his liter have all started to change colors except for him. I want him to stay black he is sooo handsome, but if he changes colors I am ok with that, too! I just want to know when I will "know" his color! Thanks! [F] SWEET PEA & TOMMY'S MOMMY [/FONT] |

| It is really hard to tell, and very unpredictable, but check out the "Yorkie Coats, Colors, and Puppy Growth Chart" thread towards the top of the general discussion forum.

| you know I've been wondering the same thing. The only colouring that has changed in Tia (she's 6 months) is that her head is becoming more and more ash grey, while the rest of her is still black with tan points. The colour guide in the forum above says that grey heads become blonde. Hmmm, guess we'll just wait and see!

Diggy is getting the silver head right now at 12 weeks as did Bella but she went completely a deep rust color and her back is now getting the silver streaks. Diggys back is still jet black. My breeder says her yorkies changed until they were about 5 years old! Seems kinda long to me but we'll se

| I was wondering the same thing too. Izzy is nine months and he is still black on his body with a few silver strands here and there. His head is silver and tan. Is the Yorkie the only breed that changes so much? My co-worker has one and we were saying how amazing it is that they change so much. Hers is all blonde. I have a picture of him when I brought him home and a recent one and its like night and day!
