| Hello Everyone!! I'm new here! This is our story! [F]Hello everyone! I am new to YT!! I already love it here! I would like to share our story with you all! I have been a yorkie owner for almost a year now & I am loving it! I came to own my first Yorkie in a very SAD way. I use to care for an elderly gentleman named Thomas almost a year ago. His daughter had bought him this adorable Yorkie from a breeder friend of hers. She was the Sweetest little thing! The breeder had origanally used this dog as her one of three of her breeder dogs. She decided to sell her due to the fact that she had one "reject" puppy per liter. She was trying to breed teacup Yorkies, but one pup always came out "Normal" size. To her a Yorkie over 5 lbs. was a reject. Anyway, she came to live with Thomas. When he had, had her for a about a month she came into heat, his daughter thought it would be a good idea to bred her. Well her owner Thomas passed away before she whelped her pups. We were all quite sad. To make matters worse the daughter that had bred her did not want her due to the fact that she had accidents. So they were going to lock her in a kennel until after she whelped and weaned her pups then they were going to get rid of her. I just couldn't allow that so I said I would take her. That is how I came to own my first yorkie....Sweet Pea Well just 3 days after her owner passed away we brought 5 adorable yorkies into the world! I immediately wanted one...of course who wouldn't? So I made a agreement with Thomas' daughter. In this said agreement I would care for that current liter and one future liter in exchange for Sweet Pea and one of her sons...whom I named after that sweet old man I cared for....Tommy! Sweet Pea is the most loving, sweetest, gentle dog I've ever known! Tommy on the other hand is playful, humorous, and naughty! He is like a yorkie with ADHD! But I wouldn't have it humorous way. My dogs balance each other out! My Yorkie Sweet Pea is currently about to pop any day with her next liter, I will be posting pictures the day that they arrive for all to see. Plus to top off all things I believe that Sweet Pea is a fur covered angel sent from heaven to protect my son. From the day I brought Sweet Pea home, her and my younger son, Whom has ADHD & SCAD, bonded immediately. Me and my DH could not for the life of us figure out why she picked him, my son is loud and hyper (but very loving too). Well we got our answer to that question about a week after she returned from the studs house. Our son started having grand mal seizures, which were actually secondary seizure from his partial seizures. Our little girl is now our sons seizure alert dog! Know you know a little about me and my Yorkie babies! I look forward to getting to know you all and your babies as well!!![/FONT] |

| Wow, I love your story, and would love to hear more about your new fur angel, and her relationship with your son (what is SCAD?) My oldest son has some sensory integration problems, and so he has never been the "cuddley" type with us, and has always had "issues" with animals. I didn't think he'd want to have ANYTHING to do with yorkies, and he didn't either ....BUT....he is so in love with our Kiki! It's so sweet to me to see him love on her and sweet-talk her, as it is so uncharacteristic of him. And she is awfully attached to him in return! I like the story about you naming your new pup after the man you cared for, too. What a lot poor SweetPea has been through in her life! Hopefully soon she'll be able to "retire" and just enjoy the good life, getting spoiled by you! I hope that man's daughter honors her "agreement" with you, grrrrrr.

| WELCOME TO YOU, SWEETPEA AND TOMMY Thank you for sharing your story. I have tears of joy streaming down my face. It sounds like SweetPea IS an angel -- she gave peace and comfort to the elderly gentleman she lived with AND she is bring that same peace and comfort and protection to your young son. God works in mysterious ways, and brings people together for a purpose. Maybe you cared for the gentleman so that you would be in the right place for SweetPea to come into your life to save your son! |

| Thank you ever one for you warm and caring thoughts and well wishes! SCAD is a rare metabolic disorder, which causes my son not to grow properly, he is almost 5 years old and is barely 3 feet tall and weighs about 25 pounds! Plus it does affect his learning slightly and makes him more likely to be ADHD (which he is). Other than SCAD, ADHD & his new seizure disorder his is a very active and other wise healthy little boy. My yorkie,Sweet Pea,is on her 3rd liter currently & is 4 years old. I have had her checked by the vet and he says that she is a prime canidate for breeding due to her disposition and that he can not find any "flaws" in her or any of her pups. We do plan to bred her one more time, but only if she is in good health and we get the vets ok. She is VERY spoiled. My DH & children are constantly getting into trouble (By me) for feeding her and Tommy table food. I will allow the occasional piece of bacon, chicken, etc. but only every now and then. I have heard many stories of Yorkies refusing their own dog food because they only want table food. This is not something that I want to happen to my babies, I want them on the best food I can find. I take both of my babies in to the vets for cleanings every 6 months, and to the groomers every 2 weeks! I live in the valley, the temps can be very high at times so during the summer we have them shaved into the shnowzer? cut! They are still just a cute cut as they are long. They have tons of toys & LOVE!! Very spoiled believe me! I remember when Sweet Pea had weaned her pups and we had to separate Tommy from her so that she could get some rest with out having to deal with him still trying to nurse on her all night long at 12 weeks old! I bought them both very nice kennels and blankets and beds! Well, the first night in them Tommy started whining and my DH was heart broken so he let them both out their kennels. Sweet Pea went straight for my sons room, & Tommy started sleeping with us! Of course my DH slept right through him wanting to go potty and eat 2-3 times a night and I was the one up with want seemed like a newborn for the next 6 weeks! He now (Thankfully) sleeps through the night and is potty trained! I have heard how hard they are to potty train but mine was rather easy to me, well compared to how hard it was to potty train my kids! LOL I will get pictures up of my babies as soon as I can! I just wait to share them with you all! I is kinda hard though to get a picture of Sweet Pea everytime I try to take her picture she turns and runs to her bed or dog house! I swear she just doesn't want her picture taken because of how huge she is right now! She is not normally shy of the camera! |
