Lion Cut-Hair Do or Don't? 1 Attachment(s) Ok, so I am headed to the groomers next Friday, just in time for out short vacation and I was wondering what you all think of Louis gettting a Lion cut. I saw a lady walking her dog that had a lion cut and it looked really good. Plus, with the weather warming up I worry about him becasue he has a darker coat and it would make it easier to spot fleas. I need help to decide, Maybe you can post pictures of the best summer cut for me, just to ease my mind. I thank you all for you help in advance for your help and suggestions. Here's an example on a cat what I want done to my Louis, but I want a little bit more hair left on his body. Tell me waht you think |
I'm sure he'd be cute no matter what!:D ...but, I think as long as you're leaving more hair on the body, it might as well be left in a short puppy cut (which I love!!!). But I'm no expert. Wobie's still a puppy, so I've never dealt with an adult yorkie coat... |
Just do a puppy cut instead. :D Make him proud of how he looks, not embarrassed. |
Do you mean really, really short hair all over the body and legs and leave the head and tail longer? It might be misunderstanding but I'm not getting a good visual of a cut like that. What about just a puppy cut? My yorkie had a puppy cut last year and I liked it but I wasn't crazy about his legs without much hair. I just cut him today and cut his body short and left his legs, head and tail longer. |
Just to be honest here... There is no way that I could do that to Diesel!! If you want him short then just give him a short puppy cut all over. |
ok, ok, well I meant a shorter cut around the body, not too short where it's just skin. ho-hum. I will stick to a puppy cut, I guess  everyone including my hubby is begging me to stick with that. Thanks for the honest input :tongue5: You have to understand I have a lot of "bright ideas" I've learned to take some advice. My husband thanks you all too :p |
I am glad you decided to not do the lion cut. I really dont think it looks good on yorkies |
I don't know how to explain the kind of cut I want. I like the puppy cut, but would want to keep his paws long, I also want his bangs to grow out. ughhh, I'm frustrated now ...LOL i need to find a picture of the perfect cut for the groomer I will probably beg her to let me stay and watch that se doesn't mess it up for me The reason i am so paranoid is becaise the last groomer I tried basically stole my money. She did not trim his pads or his sanitary areas, his ears were not plucked and his anal glands were not drained. Plus she messed up his bangs. At first he looked well groomed and when she dropped him off he was to excited to see me that I could not check to see he was groomed properly, I let her know right off the bat that she took too much off his face but still paid her $50 bucks for nothing! Please send me pix or something of an idea or websites with pix.... HELP!!!! |
I know what it's like to want to do something different with their hair:) Here's the cut Buddy got a few weeks ago (ARCHIE), and HE sure looks cute!!! http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...60&postcount=1 Ginger got what I called a "yorkie-who" cut last fall, but it was because of her allergies...I couldn't deal with her hair anymore:rolleyes: . It's kinda like a lion cut...honestly, I love my girl, but even I thought this cut was a little strange:p http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...13&postcount=1 |
1 Attachment(s) Here's another pic (this yorkie belongs to someone, I forget who...I saved the pic for the cut...isn't he cute?) |
Please NO LION CUT 3 Attachment(s) My Groomer girl asked me last time if I wanted to try a Lion Cut and I invisioned a teddy bear face, I should've known better! It looks utterly ridiculous!!!! Click on the first picture on the bottom. It's a pic of my oldest name Toy. It's not good for purebred Yorkies. Makes the ears droop as well. Basically the body hair is short like a rat and the face was merely trimmed. It bothers me so much that I'm taking him back in to get his face hair modified! Here in Arizona it gets so hot that I can't have him in a show coat in the summer so a puppy cut is a must!!! I also hate a Schnauzer cut for a Yorkie!!!! Had that before, too!:( |
3 Attachment(s) Two more...:D |
awwww! I love their little faces.... I might do a mix of those two cuts. Louis has allergies too. thanks for the pix! It was very helpful :coolpics: |

3 Attachment(s) skoshi has a snauzer cut lol a homemade one my mom and stepdad did because they didnt like the hair in his eyes. i came home from work and laughed so hard. i told my mom no more i hate his hair like that so i went way back through the YT forums at haircuts and i think i found some good ones. here he is but its been a couple of weeks so his hair has grown some. I did his back but they did his face while i was at work. also i think skoshi's back is getting darker again |
Oh he is sooo cute. I like that do. I would like to keep louis "bell bottom" legs though |
this is what I kinda mean 3 Attachment(s) I love the westie's face and like it when the neck is shorter, I guess that's why i was leaning toward the Lion cut. I would not make his wings so long, but I love the concept of the legs. what do you think? |
i love the lion cut !!!!!!!!!!!! |

Carol~what do you call the 2nd one? do you mind if i print this pic to show the groomer??? |
I like the Westie cut. Although they are very comfortable with a shorter cut. Somehow they walk differently when the hair is short. It always grows back! |
I'm getting excited! and to think that I have a whole 7 days to go! LOL!!! |
I know I've said this before, but with all this, girl, you better post pics:D |
