I got my Sammi at Quality Canines as well :) |
yea, but what happens then i leave her and someone else will just take her i wish that i didnt leave a deposit she most likely would have had a home already... the puppys on there sight are cute.. anyone know there price range? |
I am sure it is heartbreaking to know that the puppy you looked at is in that pet store, but the only way we can stop puppy mills is to educate people that don't know about them, which is what is so great about having a public forum like YT with all of the members that have posted on this thread have done. The second way to shut them down is to stop supporting them by giving them your money! If you can find out where this puppy came from and it ends up that they are getting their puppies from a puppy mill, I think you should let the store know that you are not buying their puppies bc you don't support puppy mills and that you are going to tell everyone you know where they get their dogs from. Hopefully one of the members in your area can help you find a caring and responsible breeder. I am sure that this is a hard decision for you, but I urge you to forget the cute puppy in the window and think about the torture that the breeding stock endures and the horrific lives that they are sentenced to as long as we support pet stores that get their puppies from puppy mills. |
When I went (3/04) the range was $700 - $2000 The pup at puppy paradise...Can you bring her to your vet they day you will pick her up to be checked out?? My mother in law got a puppy from Puppy Boutique and brought him her vet the next day where he discovered he had a heart condition as well as knee problems...She of course fell in love with him in a day, but had to return him :( The gentleman at the store told her if she didnt tell anyone about the incident he would give her 2 yorkies for the yorkie she was giving back...:( Terrible huh? :( |

wow now my g/f is like we shouldnt get the dog there and now i want to save the thing. we just did a complete flip flop |
I am so sorry for what you are going through. I know how tough it is. No one on here will feel badly about you if you get the puppy because we all know how quickly you can become attached to these little guys. Most of us made "mistakes" when we got our first dogs but we ove them completely and wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. We here on YT will love whatever puppy ypu get and from weherver you get her. We have not confirmed that these puppies are coming from puppymills. Maybe they are imported from Brazil or Hangary where they are less expensive but well cared for. I don't know. Can you find out? |
Ok. Here's more of my two cents. If you deposited half or more and can't get the deposit back, then get the dog. If you deposited $100 or whatever then I would keep looking. You'll likely spend more on vet bills since we are 99% sure its a puppy mill pup. Also, what if your dog was one of those "rented" dogs, or a dog that spent a bunch of time at someone's house for a birthday party. Who knows what was at those houses? I know it would make me sick just thinking about it. DO NOT take the puppy to the store sponsored Vet if they are offering a "free check-up". Take her to an independent veterinarian who can give you an objecctive opinion. |
None of us can tell you what to do and I'm sure some people on this site have gotten their pups from pet stores, but it is not the best route to go. A friend of mine has 3 shih tzu's 2 from a breeder and 1 from a pet store. The first 2 have never had health problems, but the one from the pet store is always at the vet and has some serious problems. You could be taking your chances with a sick puppy who will probably come out of there with kennel cough, ear mites... even malnourished. Pet stores are not in the business of caring for animals, they are in the business of making as much money as they can and sacrificing the health of the pet only puts more money in their pockets. My gut instinct is to tell you to NOT get a dog from puppy paradise, they are not reputable and you will have some sort of health issue with the dog and it will cost you more $$$ in the end. There are many breeders out there, even ones that are members at this site and I would suggest you check one of them out for a healthy puppy. If your deposit is an issue, check out the legality of them actually keeping it. It could just be a "store policy" which has no bearing on actual law. Good Luck!!! |

Coco is cute, I think I read something good about a yorkie who's red-eye is green? Anyone remember that? |
I think I have read that green glow is silk coat. |
that was scary when i read that coco could have been a rented puppy  imagine... ahhhh come on guys had to bring up the green eye ;) :D we are supposed to pick it up Thurs so tomorrow is going to be the day that makes and breaks everything jack- |
I read about that somewhere as well, but currently looking, a photographer says to make a dogs eyes glow green, point the flash dierectly into his eyes. A vet (not my fav ) said that it may have something to do wtih the retinas. |
