It's a Yorkie Thing Donating Member | Need Advice Ok guys, I need your advice, My sisters has a female Chihuahua in heat. She wants to breed her to my Yorkie Duke. I have seen "Chorkies" before and they are cute. What do you all think? How long would they need to be together? A week, two or more? Need all the help and advice you can give. Thanks.

| I'm sorry, but if you're asking how long you need to leave them together, you're not ready to breed. Please for the health of your male, do some research first, STD's can be passed between dogs also. There really are enough mixed breeds, so I do hope you reconsider.

| well .. i wouldn't but that's b/c i'm not too fond of chihuahua (sp?) and also i love yorkies the way they are and wouldn't want to mix breed. that's just my opinion, i'm not a breeder or anything but i am a yorkie mommy and buyer i guess .. assuming that the puppies you breed you'd sell

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Maybe she could resaerch breeding and then find a Chiuahaua to breed to. I just think there are to many dogs in shelters already and breeding is not something done lightly.

| Oh and i just thought id add. Im in Miami, and one of my cousins bred a chorkie litter and CANNOT find homes for them. it seems like not alot of ppl want chorkies IMO. i told her not to breed, and she didnt listen, well she finally found good homes for them, and didnt even break even money wise. not even close. her yorkie is getting spayed this weeked. Ive seen pictures of them and the puppies arent that cute in my opinion, like when the CHI look is dominant, they look pretty weird as pups, which is probably y many dont breed them or want them. you have no idea what you are going to get. |
