| Confused Mommi Hi everyone, I was just wondering, as you might know from my previous threads i'm new to this, Well first of all i have my darling girl a week today, and you wont belive the difference in her in just that short time, shes bigger, quicker and cuter but my question is, Is it normal for her to excessivly bite, i know shes teething and her little gums might be sore, but shes doind it an awful lot, it hard to even pet her now

It's a Yorkie Thing Donating Member | Puppies will chew alot while they are getting rid of the baby teeth and growing in new ones. Just give her something other than your fingers to chew on while you are holding her.

| I remember when Simon was going through that stage Yes, give her a distraction or something to occupy her chewing like a Kong toy. Good Luck |

| As the others have said this is very normal, and yet different puppies do it to different extents. My pup hardly bit at all, but I've had others that I felt I was continually saying "No bite"!! You might try this..as soon as you feel her teeth say loud "Ouch!" and put your fingers around her muzzle (like a mommie dog would do) and then replace with a toy she can chew and praise..so, she bites..OUCH (while putting fingers lightly around muzzle) replace with chew toy..good girl! You must do this every time no exceptions, do not play tug o war at this time. Perhaps invest in those chew toys that you can freeze. No doubt her little teeth are hurting but biting is not acceptable. She sounds like a doll!! Kathy |

| When mine went through this I wrapped my hand in a thick sock and let them have at it. The problem is, how do you they know that after teething it is not acceptable to chew on fingers, sock covered or not. Mine didn't have problems with it. After the teething they were done.

Bella Boo & Diggy Too! Donating GS Member | It's normal....we have like 10 stuffed toys, ropes tied up socks, pig ears, and cow tails laying around. WHen he starts his chewing/biting we offer him the nearest toy....It works

| My problem is that my babby won't chew on anything but my fingers. I have stuffed toys, chew toys, rope toys, puppy bones, etc. But he won't chew on them when I offer them to him. Is it because they're so big?

| As I said on another post, I am experiencing the same problems! Tucker gets in this hyper, revved up mode when he'll fly at me and just start biting my fingers and toes. Even after being redirected to a toy and reprimanded he continues to do it. Additionally, I've started removing myself from him when he gets like this because he is really hurting me and I'm getting really hurt feelings along with being really angry. I understand the chewing phase but it doesn't seem like he's trying to relieve his sore gums, it seems like he's biting to hurt and that is absolutely not acceptable. His sweet, cuddly, goofing off moods are becoming less frequent and this hyper biting maniac is beginning to take his place. I feel like such a bad mom. |
