Oh my goodness...she is sooooooooo cute! I am glad to see that she now has a forever home. What did you end up naming her? Tammy |
YAAAAY, please stay around and tell us all about your journey with her! (and we like pictures! :p) |
3 Attachment(s) We haven't named her yet. She seems to be doing pretty well, she seems to have a bit of separation anxiety if we leave her in the basement alone but we're working on that. She warmed up to me even more this morning curling up sleeping next to me and letting me rub her belly. So things seem to be going well. Another couple pictures when she was at the pound attached. |
she is very pretty and also very blessed to have you and your wife as her new parents. |

Great news! Congrats!!! Take some more pics for us...please! :D |
Congratulations on your beautiful new girl. I am sure she is frightened being taken from one place to another. She now has found someone to love and is afraid of being alone again. I hope all her blood work comes back perfect and you have many wonderful years together. Please hang around and keep us informed. |
1 Attachment(s) Ok by popular demand here is another picture I took only a few minutes ago. |
She's so adorable! Congratulations!! |
What a great thread to come upon! First to know that there are wonderful people like you and your wife who are willing and able to adopt an older dog. Second because the first one was reunited with her family, because Freddie has a new buddy, and last, but not least, because your new little beautiful girl has a good home. Keep us posted. I do have to agree with Villette though. It is not a good thing that there are Yorkies readily available now in shelters. They're so trendy, and then people get rid of them when the reality of owning a dog sets in. So...this is what we have to do...if anyone asks if they're good pets, easy to take care of, etc...tell them NO!! Tell them they're difficult and demand clothing and jeweled collars and even shoes, only eat lobster or filet mignon and require daily grooming. |
She is adorable!!! Congratulations on rescuing her and giving her a loving home!!! |
Awww this is such great news!! Congrats and enjoy her!! :D |

Well the wife and I have decided on a name, Katie, short for Katherine. Our beloved Precious, her full AKC title name was Katherine's Precious as her first owner (an elderly woman who has since passed away) was named Katherine. We hope that Precious and Katherine have been reunited since Precious' passing. The doctor also called to tell us that the blood test showed everything in the normal range, which is great too. Our biggest issue right now is getting a stool sample and keeping Katie comfortable, she gets anxious if we aren't in the basement with her and barks and carries on. I got her a DAP pheramone thing today that seems to have reduced her barking and hopefully that means she is feeling ok. Thursday we get to introduce her to Freddie, which also means she'll have the run of the house like he does and then I think things will be a bit easier. |
So glad all Is Well I love the name you picked My lil sisters girl Is Katie also :) |
Awwww, she looks like a real sweetie, and she's a cutie too! So many older dogs are passed over....God bless you for being willing to take her on! |

Awwww, bless your heart for adopting a 10 year old, bc some people would not do it. She is ADORABLE. So pretty and sweet looking. I am so happy for her and for you. Keep this updated - more pics, more pics! |
I'm happy that you adopted that cutie pie! I'm sure she'll bond with you and your family before you know it! Congratulations!!! |
Well the introduction of Freddie to Katie has been delayed because Freddie came down with what appears to be an upper respiratory infection. Not clear if he got it from Katie through my wife and I, or if the vaccination he got for kennel cough on Monday caused it. But he's doing better and we hope to introduce them on Monday. Keeping them apart in the house is getting tiring for my wife and I though. Katie is getting more and more outgoing everyday, she has quite a personality and we are really enjoying her. I also talked with the woman who found her and took her to the humane society. She said she saw her near a major intersection running in traffic, so she and her daughter stopped and got her. They said she was quite scared and shy but warmed to them quickly. They took her home for a bit (not clear if it was hours or days), and gave her some food. She said her husband wouldn't let them keep her (ironically they have another yorkie already) so they took her to the pound. Anyways her daughter and she would like to see Katie again so in a few weeks after things settle down we'll probably do that. |
3 Attachment(s) A quick update with some pictures (including Freddie). We introduced them, things didn't go so great with a few fights occurring. But we visited an animal behaviorist and things seem to be improving. Freddie had emergency surgery because of bladder stones, but he is recovering well. Katie had 9 or 10 teeth removed during her dental cleaning the other day, but after a couple days doesn't seem any worse for wear. Katie is definitely entertaining and seems to get more comfortable everyday. Freddie of course is always a great source of happiness for us. |
i would adopt her shes sooo cute! |

Precious Precious was a very beautiful girl. God Bless her. The new little one looks like she needs some food and a loving home. I would take her in a heartbeat. She is too too cute. Good luck, Jay :) |
