| We tried keeping Emmy in the crate or her bed at night--couldn't deal with the whining. My sweet husband (Emmy has him wrapped) moved a fouton mattress beside the bed and started sleeping on it with her for about a month after we got her. She slept great then--no crying! We moved her to the bed, bought some great steps at Petsmart and VIOLA!!! she sleeps all night--until 4:55 a.m. Our clock goes off at 5:00 and she has this radar--she always wakes me up at 4:55 a.m. Our problem is that she will run up the steps but will not go down them--I think she is scared. She will jump off the bed in a heartbeat. I worry about it, but have not been able to stop her. She is a big jumper anyway--jumps off all the furniture.

| Hi there. I have two, one sleeps with us, one doesn't. The 14 month old sleeps with us - she was our first and I couldn't resist the cuddling. Then we got another - he is 5 months - and put him right in the crate at night. He is an angel - sleeps all night long, waits to do his thing until the morning. She, however, is up and down on the bed 4 -5 times a night and is not potty trained at all. If I had a do-over, she would be in the crate too! Good luck, I know it's hard!!! |

| Sadie has been sleeping in bed with me since she was six months old. Before that, I was afraid that I'd roll over on her and hurt her. She usually has to get up once in the middle of the night for a pee break. I just set her on the floor and she goes running down the hall, does her "business" on her pee pad and then comes running back to bed. I'm lucky that I don't have to get up with her. ![]()

| When Holly got too old to be able to jump on the bed at night I used to put a footstool at the end of the bed so she could jump onto that then onto the bed. She only ever had one accident on the bed when she was a puppy and that was my fault because I slept in too late, but she slept next to me for 16 years, it was so difficult when she died, I missed her company so much, and still do, she used to cuddle up to me when it was cold. |

| Shooter and Emma sleep with us. I agree that it's a personal preference. I just like it when they cuddle up to me at night.

| When we brought home Faith she had a pen the size of a bigger playpen which we put in our bedroom, once she was potty trained she came in the bed with us. Faith is the most loving and gives us so much affection and in return we love her much to much and spoil her like crazy. I say sleep with your Yorkie!!!!! |

| YT 500 Club Member | We had our baby in her kennel at night for about a year or more, and that was during the time she was being potty trained. But believe it or not, my husband felt sorry for her, and even though she didn't cry at night, he wanted her to sleep with us. Now she won't do anything else. It is fine, but sometimes she gets us up during the night to go out. We have never had an accident in bed. I love having her with us and wouldn't have it any other way. But I am glad that we did the kennel first so that we didn't have the accidents. |

| It must be a universal 4am yorkie thing because my Tobie goes at 4am too. We've battled the crate vs. the bed issue since I got him several months ago and back and forth between. I guess I am lucky because he's pretty flexible either way. If I need a really good night's sleep, he can transition to the crate, but lately he's been sleeping in bed with me. Its a mental thing I guess to do what your heart feels vs what the "book says do" Quote:

| Until my pup was fully housebroken, I had him sleep in his crate by my bed but after that he sleeps with us. HE LOVES IT! (And he sleeps later if he sleeps with us rather than in his crate.) I love cuddling with him at night, too. I was afraid at first to let him sleep with us--afraid he'd get hurt if we rolled over on him but it's never happened. He finds his spot and it's all has been okay. I've never been one to let any of my dogs sleep in my bed (although none of my dogs have ever been only 8# before!) but this little guy rules my heart. How can I possibly say no?THE ONLY THING IS--he could have an accident in your bed (pee or puke) so be prepared and decide AHEAD OF TIME if that'll freak you out. Once you let him sleep w/ you, it'll be very hard (if not impossible) to tell him he can't later.

| Bailey is 5 and 1/2 months and only started sleeping in my bed a couple of weeks ago, he goes up and down a ramp by the bed when he needs to go pee or get a toy, I don't even hear him...unless he wants me too!
