anyone who knows anything about yorkies will not purchase a blue born baby. Well maybe not you but I WOULD!!! I would not purchase a chocolate or a red either!! They can have the SAME problems as a blue born!!!!!!!Blue borns are more at risk and seem to have more hair problems. I think he is BEautiful.I have had 2 blue both were males and are now just as healthy as any other yorkie and they both have shed out to a black coat! They seem to turn a darker almost chocolate color (5-12 weeks) as they get older but is wirey just like a chocolates.I get very defensive over these blue babies!!! I do believe the more white they have on them and the brown the better off they are.The all blue ones do not live long or have serious health problems from birth.Hair loss ect.And not all blue born babies have the alopecia gene. You should not breed the parents again who produced this precious little one.So you do not have any more suprises in your whelping box. blues tend to pack on a little more weight in the waist line also.Porky and puddgy and full of love.. Do a search on blues and you can see some pics of blue babies. |
I have been doing a lot of research on Yorkie pups b/c I have considered breeding mine when they get old enough if everything turns out good. From what I have gathered red, chocolate , and blue Yorkies all have the potential to have genetic problems and live shorter lives. I am not a breeder as of yet and I know there are a lot more experienced people on here to give advice but I personally would not sell him. And would definitely not sell him for a higher price as a "rare" Yorkie. Good luck to you and the little guy. Keep us informed. |

BLue silver same thing to me.I would not sell it as rare though, I did sell mine very cheaply with the complete honest knowledge to the new owners I did not know what was going to happen with them coat health etc..... They send me pics of the boys and they look so good makes me fell good to know they turned out okay and have loving homes for that is what they deserve. You could not tell today they were born blue or silver. Both are black and grey. I held on to the boys a bit longer than the rest of the pups also.Mine had no health problems as pups and were actually the most robust and durable little boys.first ones to be paper trained and eating food before the rest of the litter etc. They are misfits (blues reds and chocolates) Yorkies non the less! |
you had all of them born from that litter blues??? |

There are several several people who have chocolates and reds and they are just healthy as a regular yorkie. Only the color is a mutation and it has not caused any health problems. Look at even parti yorkies, their color is a mutation in the genes but it does not make them unhealthy, they are just as healthy as any regular yorkshire terrier. I am glad you are keeping the little boy, I am sure he will be a joy to have!! Good luck with him and remember to post pictures of the little guy growing up!! |

Look at even parti yorkies, their color is a mutation in the genes but it does not make them unhealthy, they are just as healthy as any regular yorkshire terrier. Sorry I beg to differ and do not want to start an argument either, makes me so mad when all on here freak out and oh no oh no it is a blue OMG. I know of 19 blue babies as of today and only 1 has had health problems and that is with her skin, sunburn then that gets infected. I know of 2 reds with health problems off and on and I know of 1 chocolate that is very ill all the time. So it cannot be said they do not have health problems for they do. I do know all born blue babies usually do not make it past weaning. Those born silver grey or whatever color you call it and those that have tan markings and those with white, shed thier coats and turn standard color. So they cannot be considerd true blues. And there is proof they have health problems for I know of 3 dogs that have problems,2 reds and 1 chocolate, and only 1 blue ummmmm so I would say same odds there. Healthy yorkies ummmmmm look in the sick section, lots of health problems there and they are standard. How does one explain that? ALL yorkie can have health problems black ones gray ones silver ones red ones chocolate ones etc...... Just more people talk about the off colors and are looked into more for they are rare colors! But yorkies non the less. |
wow@@ I love this color@ |
wow keep the pictures coming..keke |
