How cute is thattt??? Aw almost makes me want another one...I said ALMOST..Why do yorkies tails get docked?? |

Too cute! There is huge debate and controversy about tail docking and many countries have outlawed it. Here in the US, the AKC, the registry that most yorkie show breeders care about requires the tails to be docked in order to show the dog as part of the breed standard. A lot of hobby breeders are starting to not dock tails. |
It's kind of sad because their tails are gorgeous when not docked! If I decide to breed Rylee, I'm keeping one of the pups and I'm not docking the tail. Everytime I think about it, I cringe! |
It really is heartbreaking. However, their dew claws get taken off too; which is recommended for any breed or mixed breed so they don't get caught up on anything which is quite painful for them. I can't say they would cry any less if their tails were not docked and their dew claws were taken off. My first male Yorkie didn't have his tail docked and it really did make him look not quite like a Yorkie. He had the coat, the size, and everything...but still. I do have to agree with one of the posts above, it was a nice looking tail. Yorkies are a lot like a Maltese (which keeps their tail) but with color. Anyway, I would be very happy if it wasn't the AKC standard and it wasn't what people were used to seeing when they saw a Yorkie, that's for sure! Julz |
Those are beautiful babies!...and they truly are RED! amazing! :D |
Oh adorable pic. I love the babies and the mama. Wow that is really red, incredible . It is so cute. :) Thank you for sharing the pic. |
Awwwwww! That is such a precious pic! I am glad to hear that taildocking went alright! |
wow they are all beautiful that picture is absolutly priceless. congrats on the new babies |
I sorry Julz but i can't agree my Noah has a full tail and i would fight anybody who tells me that he isn't or dosen't look like the Yorkshire Terrier he is. |

I did say mine had a nice looking tail. But several people did ask if he was full blooded because he had the tail. Like I said, I honestly wish it wasn't the standard...I truly dread that day for the puppies, the mother, and myself! It makes the body look longer and I think that is what throws people off. It's is like a Boxer's ears not being cropped, they are still just as adorable its just that people expect them to stand up. No insult intended in any fashion. |
Wow...I have never seen red Yorkies :) How does this happen?? Will you be keeping them? Fran and Sammi |
Sorry Julz,i didn't meen to upset or hurt you, it's our English sense of humour, Noah is a full Yorkie with a full tail, we have a Springer with a half tail he is a rescue so we couldn't do much about him, over here docking is very much frowned on, and most vets will not do it, and i must admitt, hand on heart i do agree with them, but that is me and i know everybody is entilted to their own views, so please can we be friends http://www.emotipad.com/newemoticons/Blush.gif |
Aboslutely Gorgeous! What beautiful pups you have! Thanks for showing the pic - made my day, never seen a yorkie pup that color - they're really great! :D |

Odd thing about typing, huh? No one can tell what tone of voice you are typing. See, I'm not upset with you at all...not one tiny bit, and I was hoping you weren't upset with me. We can definetly be freinds. There are a few vets around here that won't "crop" or "dock". Fellow Yorkie Fan, Julz |

Thank you very much! I never saw or heard of them before Monday myself! |
Very pretty little puppies, all of them! I would love to see them when they are full grown, they will be very unusual ;) What's nice is that they still are full blooded yorkies!... Theresa & The Boys :rose: |

Thank you very much! YOUR boys look adorable! You will be able to see this litter as they grow. I am going to post new pictures to the Photo Gallery once a week (they were born on Memorial Day so I will try and post every Monday) so we can all se how they turn out. I'm sure they are as new to many of you out there as they are to me. I couldn't find many pictures of red ones. I figure this way we can all see if they will stay red or if they turn chocolate. |
Awww, cute pups with Momma! |
Wow! I've never seen red yorkies either! They are darling! I hope you'll post pics of their faces one of these days...and pics as they grow! Thanks for sharing! |

There are more pictures of them in the Photo Gallery. There is a close up of the face but he is only 10 hours old, so he looks a little more like a ferret. I will be posting new pictures once a week so we can all see how they develop! Thanks for looking! Julz |

They are so cute! I've never seen a red baby yorkie before. Its gonna be so fun to watch them grow, keep the pics commin ;) |
How much I have learned!!! Before this site, I only thought yorkies came in a few colors...ie black/tan/silver/blue. From this site, I realize they also come in choc, parti and now red! They are gorgeous puppies!!! Thanks for sharing with us! |
Umm, someone has a blue, or a litter of blues. I wish everyone with the unusual colors would keep us posted with pics. I'd like to see them grow. I'd love to have seen SoCalyorkiLvr's (Kim's) orange baby as she grew up. She looks like one of those orange over vanilla ice creams. Sylvia |
Their so cute. Momma must be so proud. |

Well actually the breed standard in England is Quote:
|
Yes, that is the standard for the Yorkie breed. I never heard of any other colored Yorkie myself until Tiah had this litter as I have mentioned in other posts. I went on line and learned quite a bit myself. The colors mentioned above are the "standard" and the normal color. Anything else is a genetic color .... oh I don't want to use this word, but... kindof "mishap". They are not the desired color by AKC, but I have found that becuase it is rare for this occurance, the are desired by individuals who want something hardly anyone else has. I am just as curious as everyone else to see how they turn out. They are the only ones I have heard about that have white markings on their heads. I noticed yesterday that their nails are getting darker and they have darker spots on the pads of their little feet now. Also, the male with the bigger white blaze has little darker specks on his pink nose, but the little red girl doesn't yet. Both sets (boy and girl of each color) are doing great and the boys are both a little bigger than the girls. Hope this isn't more info than anyone wanted to hear. |
