Hi, am have Banfield, and I paid $137 to sign up and $21.00 a month, I took her a month later for shots paid nothing out of pocket, her spaying paid nothing out of pocket. Each time I have to take her for shots or when she had blood work done paid nothing. I love the plan. If I think she's not feeling good I take her and pay not a dime. And belive me I take her if I just think she's not feeling good. And I love the vets there. But thats just me. I think 21.00 a month for the services I get is great. How many time can you walk in to a vet office and come out with your money sitll in your pocket. |

I would call around and do a drop by another office before I would pay that price. I think soooo many vets love to just take the $$ right out of your pocket. My pups neuter, micro chip, 2 baby teeth extracted and follow up visit was $146. I understand spays are more but only additional $30. Good Luck! |
Our shelter charges $25 to have a spay/neuter done.;) |
prices here are outrageous ... Quote:
I just had her at the vet for CBC and cytology, ear plucking <????> cPL, and office visit -(thatz $49.50 straight off) - for a total of $288.00 and just paid 30$ for a fecal sample today .... You are in a major city as well, so things are high. I was thinking of visiting a friend 4 hours north of here b/c i got a lower estimate ... but I can't justify the trip, the hotel and sticking around for a follow-up ... even if it does total $500.... High standard of living here ... OUCH!!!!:2omg: |
That is what it cost me to spay Peanut, but she was already 2 1/2 yrs old, so maybe more expensive after they have gone through the first heat?? |
wow, that is so expensive, my karleigh was only 2pds when she was spayed, she received pain meds for comfort and i was able to pick her up that afternoon, total cost 105.00, hope you can look around and find a more reasonable price with of course wonderful care.:) |
thats too much i would call around here its like $100 for spay and less for neuter |
BANDFIELD IS A JOKE ANDA A RIP OFF!! they are not operated by vets they are run by corporate men and women who have no education in vetinarian. they are extremely over priced and will double, triple, quarduple their prices. they charge twice for the same shot and every time you go back the prices have gone up! dont trust i dont! BANDFIELD SUCKS:thumbdown |
WOW - that IS alot. Here it is $320 total for a spay, anesthesia, teeth pulling, microchip, and heartworm test all done at the same time. The spay itself is $150 - anesthesia is $98 which brings the basic spaying itself to $248. Neuter ($30 less) is $120 + $98 anesthesia which brings the neutering itself to $218. |

That's a whole lot. I live in Snellville, when I got Mollie spayed it was an emergency spay because she had an infection and with all that and 2 nights in the hospital it was a little over $300. I would call around and get some other prices. There is a place called spayga that you can call or they may even have a website. You can get certificates through them for around $50 I think it's been a while since I got one through them. Try this vet this is their website. I've had a couple of friends that have used them and they are extremely reasonable with everything. Good Luck and keep us posted. http://www.tracylanddvm.com/html/hours_map.html |
My vet, whom I love, was charging $530 for spay plus microchip. A friend recommended a spay and neuter clinic where they charged $65.00 plus $18.00 for pain meds. Since my friend was happy with them, I went there and was extremely pleased! The vet was this super nice older gentleman, who was very experienced and knew a lot about Yorkies. I spoke to 3 clients in the office who were very positive about their experiences as well. Other vets I asked said these types of clinics are great because they just do these surgeries all day long, so they are very good at them. They were very helpful and nice and I am so glad I saved over $400.00! Eventhough I had the money - why give it to them just because they set their prices high? I still use my regular vet for everything else. |
Before we got Maddie spayed we got 2 quotes for the procedure. One cost $400 and the other $500. I could afford that much...but barely. It would've really been a stretch. So instead, we went to the SPCA clinic in our area. It ended up costing about $150. |
Hi, I didn't read anything here but the first post. That sounds a bit high to me personally considering I've had small dogs spayed for approximately 225 including meds and stay for the day. Follow-up visit has always been free. My vet is a reproductive specialist and is very hard to find in this area. I am very fortunate to have her and she has always had extremely fair prices. Her products/food are the same rate as most vet's but I'm now convinced she really offers fair prices considering what I've been reading here lately. I'd shop around if you have another good vet with references in your area! |
WOW! That's a lot!!! I paid $190.00 for spaying and removal of baby teeth. |
I think you should shop around for a new vet. That is way too much and you know, more expensive doesn't always mean better... |
Here are links to a couple of other threads on the same subject. I also posted my vet bill breakdown somewhere but I can't find it right now. I think your quote seems terribly high. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ight=cost+spay http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ight=cost+spay |
Man I wish I had saved money if I had knew more. When I first got Teddy I wanted tot take him to the best vet in NYC so I went to a good one but the prices were too high. Just for the first visit it was like $150, for a check up alone it was $80, I finally changed and the one I am at now is very good but cheaper. |

I just found a place in Avondale Estates who does the spaying for $65. This is where we will be going!! I am so glad I thought to mention it on this forum. I wouldn't have even thought of going to a clinic otherwise, and would have been out of some big money. Thanks again all. |
Are you in the north atlanta area? I am in Alpharetta. There are two vets I would recommend. |
WOW! vets in my area couldnt even dream of charing that much. My anna isnt spayed yet but she had eye surgery and for that, eye drops, aneestheisa, and second visit to get stitches out it only cost me 90 dollars. her shots were only 25 dollars. i think it just depends where you live. My aunt lives in Kansas city Missouri and she took her cat to get fixed and paid almost 300 dollars. I took my grandmas cat to get fixed here and it only cost me 30 dollars. so that makes a difference. A big difference. I know they were cats but im sure dogs are prety close to the same. |
thats to much |
Expensive! Does your local Human Assn provide the service? |
I think that is an outrageous price! |
That is pretty expensive, but doesn't spaying cost more as it's more of a surgery than neutering? Pepper's neuter cost a little more than 300, with the blood work. It also depends where you live... Sometimes you can do it in a clinic that's cheaper than your regular vet also. |
That is alot of money. We paid $150 for Dior's spay |
That's high. I paid 207 to get Izzy neutered plus teeth extracted and blood work... and I thought that was high. Correct me if Im wrong, but does it usually cost more for girls than boys? Either way, I still payed a lot! |
I am in the Atlanta area also and have a great vet. Spay was $105 last year for Jixer and it only costs me $85 to have Dylan neutered 6 mths ago. It sounds like you found a vet with a great spay price of $65 but if you decide you are not comfortable with them let me know. I'd be happy to give you the name of my vet. |
