Dog fight-got bitten

Last night, I brought Siu Pao to play with my friend's Cocker Spaniel that is a month younger than Siu Pao is. They used to play together when they were puppy but things didn't go too smoothly so we have decided to stop until both of them are a bit older now.

The problem starts when my friend pets Siu Pao, her dog will get all jealous and starts snapping at my boy. Also, they like to play chase and her dog will take a bone and my boy will chase her but when he catches up to her and tries to go for the bone, they will start to fight. When it happened, I was breaking them off it and trying to protect my furbaby because obviously he is much smaller and ended up I got bitten by both of them. Will they ever play nicely together? Do I have to keep all their bones so that they will play nicely and my friend can never pet Siu Pao?

This friend of mine is one of my closest friend here and it would be great if both of them can learn to play nicely together but if not, I would have to visit her without him.

I would put away the toys they like best and any bones and take it slow.... If the ever do get in to a fight it is best not to put your hands in the middle to break them up. maybe try keeping a leash on them so you can pull them apart.
and the more you bring them together to better they will get at being together.

I would try putting away all the bones and toys and just letting them play, until they learn how to behave together. Also, maybe you should stick to giving Siu Pau attention, and your friend should stick to giving her cocker attention. That way no one gets jealous. They'll probably get along better as time goes on, and you won't have to worry anymore.

I hope you did not get bitten badly.
Try keeping them both on leashes while they get use to each other and
put all toys away. Maybe taking them for a walk together while they
get to know each other better might help.

The only suggestion I have is to try to walk them together (Dog Whisperer's way). Maybe you could try walking each other's dog. Or take them to an off-leash dog park if you have one near so they could concentrate on running and playing.

I'm certainly no expert at training. To be honest, I am barely competent as mine tend to train me, but I would think that eliminating some of the territorial aspects --- my house, my person, my bone --- might help.

I am okay, it was painful at first but after a while, its just the bruises. I guess I wasn't really thinking when I put my hand in. All I was thinking was I do not want my boy to get hurt or be bitten because her dog is like 12kg, my dog is 4kg. Will try to talk to my friend not to touch Siu Pao when her dog is around and to keep all the bones/toys. Will try again when I am done recovering from the scare

Is there a chance that they will be nice to each other? I am kinda scared now..like if they will never be nice to each other, I might as well not let them play together again.

Removing the bone from the situation would be a good idea as some dogs will even attack their owners over a bone... too touchy for playtime.

If the cocker is getting jealous and snapping, your friend needs to be responsible and address that.

Also, a very good trainer told me having dogs greet and play on leashes is never a good thing. It makes them tense, nervous, and protective. I know at first it seems silly because you can pull them away on a leash, but it makes them feel stuck, kind of backed into a corner, so they are more likely to be aggressive.

I would sit on the floor with them and when the cocker spaniel got too rough & bitey it would get a tap on the bum!
