| OMG I can't believe I'm doing this... I just scheduled maggie to get spayed.....TOMORROW!!! for some reason I thought that I would have to schedule for futher down the road. I am scared to death!!! I absolutely love my vet but this is my baby we are talking about here!! I had my cocker spayed and had NO issues with that...of course I called and checked on her but for some reason I wasn't nervous. But maggie is just so tiny! she is 27 weeks old and 5 lbs. I am sure it will all be fine but I am just scared silly. I am having all of the bloodwork done before hand. what are your thoughts on the pain med? should I opt for it or not? they have told me that it is my choice if I want it. what do you think?? oh...I can't believe I'm doing it. I really can't. my nerves are SHOT. and I have to spend the WHOLE night without her!!! can I handle it?? I don't know...

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | It will be fine. She is of a good weight to get the spaying done. I would opt for the pain meds if you think you can get her to take it. When I had my cat spayed the pain meds were a waste because I couldn't get the meds down her. Lex was neutered in Jan and I got him the pain meds and had no problems with him taking them. Lulu is now a whopping 2 lbs and will be turning 6 months the end of the month and I am starting to gear myself up for the spaying. It's a bit scary but it's good to get it done. Good luck and dont' stress too much. They pick up on the stress and anxiety and it transfers to them. Lex and Lulu send puppy hugs and kisses your way.

| I think we all worry when we take our babies for spaying. I'm sure she will be fine. But I know you will worry anyway. I did too. We will be thinking about you guys. I still remember the great relief I felt when they brought my little baby to me after surgery. Phewwww, all over.

| Maggie will be in my thoughts. I am sure she will do just fine! I had Peanut spayed at 3 pounds with no problems or regrets, except for the fact that they forgot to send her home with pain meds. Grrrr!!! I highly reccomend you get them just in case. I went and picked up pain meds the following morning and it made a world of difference. Good luck sweet little Maggie!!!

YT Addict | I took Teddy and Theresa in at the same time to be spayed and nuetured and they did great. Both were 5lbs (5.1 and 5.4) respectively, and they did wonderfully. Though my poor Theresa took a little longer to recover than Mr. Tedd did... But I'm sure your lil girl will be fine. I will keep her in my prayers. Ashley

| My Xena was spayed this past Tuesday and she is good now. She weighs just over 4lbs. I took her in at 7:00am and picked her up at 2:30 pm. They had given her a sedation shot so she was very sleepy and really out of it until the next morning. I chose pain meds for her but only gave them to her yesterday and she doesn't seem to need them today. I posted on another thread that they shaved her way more than I thought they would, which I was disappointed about. Had I known I probably would have talked to them about shaving as little as possible. It's very noticeable. She has the dissolvable internal stitches and surgical glue for the external part and I have caught her licking it a few times. Today I put a t-shirt on her to keep her away from it. She also came home a mess and I can't bathe her for 10 days - yuck! I know this is a lot of information, but I thought I'd share 'cause I wish I had known more before hand. Good luck tomorrow - I know your puppy will be fine.
