				 | Gocha. I suppose I can see where the term may offend some people. I mean, who really wants to think that they just paid lots of money for a "mutt?" I personally don't like the term "designer dog." To me it's a way of trying to make something sound more appealing to buyers. So I guess I see where you are coming from. |

Maybe we should call on non-pure bred dogs "designer mixed mutts" that way everyone can be equally offended. | |

				 | I wasn't implying anything negative by that... Maybe "Ye Dog Whence is not of Pure Blood" ...or muggles...lol...inside joke, not very funny, but couldn't resist. I refer to my dogs as "mutts" all the time as an affectionate term. |

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | hehe.... I just read the rest of the replies...I bet YTers can come up with a NICE term for cute little mixes....I don't agree with doing it for profit but they're out there .... Designer Dog IMO sounds too much like the catch phrase that it is....but IF I had one I guess I'd like that better than 'mutt' |

"Mutt is short for the word ?muttonhead,? which was slang for dimwit. Somehow the word was applied to dogs in the 20th century, and then to dogs of mixed breeds."
