Gocha. I suppose I can see where the term may offend some people. I mean, who really wants to think that they just paid lots of money for a "mutt?" I personally don't like the term "designer dog." To me it's a way of trying to make something sound more appealing to buyers. So I guess I see where you are coming from.

I don't like the term "designer dog" either...I guess where I am from a mutt means different from where your at thats why I like mixed better

What does mutt mean where you are from? Where I'm from, it is used for any dog that isn't a pure bred. Where I am from, "mixed" is a racial term. Maybe we should call on non-pure bred dogs "designer mixed mutts" that way everyone can be equally offended.

I just read the rest of the replies...I bet YTers can come up with a NICE term for cute little mixes....I don't agree with doing it for profit but they're out there .... Designer Dog IMO sounds too much like the catch phrase that it is....but IF I had one I guess I'd like that better than 'mutt'

Just out of curiousity - is this what it means in your area? I got this in an email this morning, and I thought of this thread right away.
