Yorkies are so cute seems everyone wants to pet them. I do not let anyone pick mine up unless I know the person. I noticed you are in San Diego and we have been to that mall. It is really nice dog-friendly mall with a dog park at the end. I just wanted to let you know about the San Diego Yorkie meetup group. We have over 300 members and many of the yorkies are small like yours. It is fun to see them all dressed up and talk with other Yorkie owners. Come and join us at the next meetup which I think is going to be in Chula Vista. http://yorkie.meetup.com/17/ |

You are not. I get my nails done twice a month and everyone wants to pet Vickie. One woman even took her from my arms! I tried to be as nice as possible, even though I was poed!, ewhen I said "Can you please give her back?" :thumbdown Some people have no control over themselves. I don't blame kids, but their parents should watch them. |
Everyone loves puppies - especially small cute ones....well - almost everyone :) I know someone who when shopping in Petco or Petsmart has a little sign she puts on her carriage saying "Please - no touching"...I think most people have good intentions and seeing cute dogs is an impluse thing to want to touch them |
Hi cupcake's mommy! I also want my yorkie's name to be cupcake...I hope you don't mind! :D I am obsessed with cupcakes and have a collection of all things cupcake...lol weird I know.. Where in San Diego is the dog-friendly mall? I'm in PA but my absolute favorite vacation spot is SD!!! I always stay at the Bahia in Mission Beach. :) |
I sure know what you mean ,even when i take my little one to the vet, kids and even some adults just think they can grab our babies, no manners! iI would never just go & pick up someones pet.its rude and scary for our babies.:thumbdown |
I usually don't take my zoo anywhere but when my children's friends come over it is an automatic that they want to pick up all the little dogs. I always state the rule right when they walk in the house. No picking up the little dogs and the reason I give is, "they will get nervous and try to jump from your arms, so no picking up". The few times I have been out in public around strangers I say the same thing, don't pick her up, she'll try to jump and get hurt. Rude people. |
I HATE this. Drives me bananas. Chloe's tiny too at 2lbs 2oz and I'm VERY careful with her. Chloe's Daddy and I were walking her on the bike/walking path in town once and two kids (about 12 years old) ran over to me and started picking her up. I said she isn't allowed to be held by children unless the child is sitting down. One of the kids picked her up (aggressively) anyways! I couldn't believe it! I took her back, said "I said she's not allowed to be held, where are your parents?" I wanted to talk to the parents...I was SO mad! Well, her parents weren't there, she & the other kid were at the park (not near a residential area - near the river) alone. Ugh. Now, every time there's children or other dogs around I pick Chloe up until we've passed them. I also hate when people stick their faces or hands near her mouth to be kissed. I don't know what kind of nasty stuff they may have!! |
i have not had the pleasure yet of taking romeo around when i am out shopping yet but when i do i will have no problem with telling someone NOT to pick him up! like someone said - what if they drop the poor baby!! if he is in one of his moods he does not want to be held - by anyone!!! and do not want him hurt or worse. saying "oops i'm sorry" want fix him. |
I hate when people Pick up my dog at the dog park!! I bring them there so they can run and play not to be held. I used to be really nice and not know what to say but now I am a jerk and say loudly "Please put my dog down or Please don't pick up my dog" I don't care what people think I need my girls to run some energy out. |
i dogwalk for alot of people in my neighborhood and 1 of them has a really sweet lab with only 1 problem, he likes to jump on people. well after weeks and weeks of training i managed to kill the behavior but i HATE HATE HATE when people pat their chests and ask the dog to jump up! when i politely ask them not to ask the dog to do that they say "oh, i dont mind :)" WELL I DO MIND! BLAHH! lol as u can see this is real annoying issue for me |

I used to not think anything about this issue of strangers petting/holding my furbaby until a big guy and I mean a really big and tall guy suddenly carry Siu Pao up fast and announced "he is going home with me!". I was seriously traumatized because I am small size and that guy was huge and he wanted my dog! I don't really have problems with kids and women when it comes to strangers...it is always men. I don't understand why..maybe coz Siu Pao is a bigger sized yorkie I equate it to guys like bigger dogs lol? |
Forgot to say the summary is you should really be careful when it comes to strangers petting/holding your dog. Who knows what might happen..they might even run away with your furbaby. I don't care that people call me a prude now when it comes to people trying to carry my yorkie. I just say he doesn't like strangers carrying him. |
Since Annie is so little, we only take her out in her stroller. If there are only a few people we let her out to walk. You can't be too careful when they are this cute :D Kasey |
