| How do you brush there teeth? How in the world do you brush your yorkies teeth?I have been working on it with Lily for almost 3 month's now and when its that time she is pure hell. I tryed letting her lick it and get the taste for a few weeks and she likes it but as soon as i pull out the tooth brush she freaks!I got a finger brush and thats about as bad as the tooth brush. She just dont like it!Even if i put it on my finger and try that she wont have anything to do with it.She also has horrible breath and she is loosing her baby teeth so im hoping that that is why her breath stinks so?What do i do?I dont want a stinky breath dog or one with rotted teeth!Help!!

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | you can try petzlife. its much easier if you use the spray. its suppose to breakdown the tarter and freshen breath. i'm hoping that by using the spray every day and the gel at least once a week i will prevent bad teeth from happening in the future.

Dogs love it......or you may just try a breath spray made for dogs until she's done with all this teething....and just work on touching her face and treating her every time she lets you.

| Teething does have a lot to do with it...I remember Riley having knock your socks off, terrible breath until he was done teething. The food you feed also has a lot to do with it...especially if you feed any soft food. Since I switched my boyz over to Nature's Variety their teeth are bright white, they have no bad breath and no tartar build up. |

| I buy cheap adult size tooth brushes in bulk. I smear some toothpaste deep into the bristles and then give it to Gracie to happily chomp away on. She is happiest doing it this way. I ran it by my vet and she had nothing negative to say about it! My dentist didn't mind that I was using the freebies for this purpose either! Ha Ha

| I use the PetzLife Gel regularly for them and then 1-2 times a week, I give them a toothbrush head to use themselves (see photo). These are from an old electric toothbrush that I no longer use, but still had the heads. Another friend suggested purchasing the cheap travel toothbrushes as they are about the same size as these. I like that they hold them and just chomp away!!

| it's all about persistence! getting them used to the brushing is so hard at first but do it every single day. I remember when we first started, it was such a constant battle, it was so fustrating because they fight, bite, and push. But be persistent. Start with a finger brush, apply some gel, and brush, although I personally think fingerbrushes out there are a bit big for these little guys. Or, put it on your finget to get them used to it and rub gently like you would when you go camping and don't have a brush. But be persistent and they will get better, guaranteed. Like the others above suggested, try the spray, much easier but not as effective as actual brushing. Many of us here use Petzlife with amazing results. I've never seen anyone not be happy with this stuff. Jodie, what a great idea! I never thought to do that!!! I think I'm going to have to try that on 'lazy' nights. that is so cute, the photo of your two girls comping away. Can you put petzlife on it for them to 'brush'? Wouldn't that be heavely if they brushed their own teeth? I know, wishful thinking! |
