| OK, I would like to know if there is anyone on this site that doesn't gussy up their dog and treat them like a kid. So many go apey over clothes and such. Are there any that don't? I don't see any posts about NOT treating them this way. I'm not talking about healthy food and treats and tons of beds and nice carriers... I'm talking about the clothes and shoes, etc.....And why do poeple treat Yorkies this way? Is it just because they are small and cute? I'm just curious... Come on, any closet "regular" dog owners here????? ![]() Please this is NOT to offend those who do... I have dresses and stuff myself..... |

| I think I would qualify....but I do go apey over collars and harnesses. (Percy already owns like 5 different collars) But, for the most part, he is just a "regular dog" Although, I love looking at all the little guys dressed up.

| I'm not big on dressing up Lilo! She just has some harnesses and sweaters for winter and that's it!!! I don't like dresses on regular days except maybe halloween!!!

| Count me in then. I have a little zoo going and had never even considered dressing any of them. Then I got Bijou in the middle of winter. Here in Nebraska we were having day after day of below zero temps. A few rooms in our home have hardwood floors, so they were even cold. So I went to Ebay and bought her a couple fleece sweaters. She needed them as she was soooo cold. Part of her shaking was just from nerves (being away from the puppymill and all) and the other part was she was cold and has no hair. But that is all she owns. Now that spring is here, she goes naked and loves every minute of it. She did have a top knot for a few days after her first trip to the groomers last month. But the little Chin I have thought it was a great toy and for those few days he had an advantage when playing. So it came back out. She really doesn't even have enough hair for a top knot.

| We have 2 regular, no frills boyz here. They wear their harness when we walk or go somewhere but other than that they go commando. They do have great food, several nice beds and toys out the wazoo but they aren't spoiled by any means. Now, I did buy them each a life jacket today but that's a necessity...not a frill. |

| No clothes for my dogs... I just enjoy buying hair thingies and making bows... for me, a topknot is enough, just love a natural yorkie coat... ![]() PS: I just remembered, coats for the winter, but just because they are a necesity...

| I don't dress up my Doxie's does that count? I think they would look stupid in dresses. Not to mention they are rough and tumble girls who would probably hate it. LOL! Contrary to popular belief even though I dress up Queequeg she still gets treated like a dog within reason. She sleeps in my lap during naps in the day but at night sleeps in her crate, I also don't take her every single place I go (she goes occasionally with me in a carrier). She is also obedience trained and will continue to be trained in some advanced tricks. I also don't throw my dogs birthday parties. The reason why I dress up my Yorkie and not my Doxies? Besides the reason above: Because she enjoys it and she is small and gets cold when the weather is anything under 70 degrees. I equate wearing dresses to wearing sweaters. I guess I don't see what the big deal is....*shrugs* |

| It's not a big deal at all. I was just wondering if there were people on here who didn't do it cause I read so much about people who do...I bought clothes for mine but they never wear them except for the occasional tank top day! They do wear coats in winter at times cause it gets mighty cold here in MN. Hmmm. Maybe it's time to sell those pretty dresses.... |

| Max only wears his black hoodie and his red velour vest with his tigers on it. (It's very cool!) He did wear a skull and crossbones shirt and necklace for halloween. When I put anything else on him, he puts his little head down and freezes or hides. The coats are for warmth and allow him full freedom of movement. I think that's what freaks him out - when he feels confined in clothes, so he doesn't wear any. I want to get him a light Yankees jacket, but they're about $30 - 40 and there's no spring or fall anymore so Idon't know if I'll bother. Judy |

| Ceiba has 1 little t-shirt that she wears when we go to someone's house. It normally comes off after 15-20 minutes. That's about it! And she does wear her everyday harness with ID tags (it's a teeny harness and she's used to it), but that's the extent of our dress up time. Besides, even though she's an indoor dog, I think Ceiba would much rather be an outside doggie! (She REALLY enjoys getting dirty in the grass/dirt/leaves) |
