| Sophie is 7mths. old and weighs 9lbs. Her parents were both really small. She may be just a tad on the chubby side but she is still a good sized girl. I am going to ask the vet next Thursday if he thinks she is to heavy. I don't want her weight to cause any health problems |

| When you stroke her sides you should be able to feel ribs if you can she is probably fine, if you can see them she is under weight, if you can't feel them she needs to lose a little |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | lol...9 lbs really isn't that big - My breeder told us Chanel would be 6 tops and she hit that pretty young.... but she's athletically built and has a perfect little body on her for yorkie standards - I love her at any weight...and to me - she is perfect - If you can't feel ribs when you run your hand down her sides she may be carring a pound extra - I think Chanel is too - but lord ...she plays and plays and and NEVER stops ! She is three now and plays lots more than Cheri who is only a year old. Edited to tell Julie - didn't see your post when I submitted this and didn't mean to repeat you ! |

| Shelbie (RIP) was 11 pounds and beautiful! she was very short but kind of long. I used to get so mad when people would say Oh she is big for a yorkie. I would say well if you think about it 11 lbs. is still a very small dog. I didn't mind her size, just the way other yorkie owners would say it. Honestly she was much prettier then their dogs. I love them all whether big or small, I am about to get another yorkie soon and who knows what she will turn out to be. |

| my Toby is 12 lbs of total mischief. When I went to pick him up from the breeder, his dad who was the same build as Tobes is now, kept leaping all over the place and the guy said that he took the dog running with him when he went out on the hills and he said they did about five miles a day and the dog never lagged behind. Toby has inherited his father's energy levels as well as his large stature and I am glad he is bigger as he is a tough little man and could stand up my daughter's rough treatment when she was a toddler.

| My sweet Rags weighs 12 pounds. I wanted a small yorkie but I got a larger one that is wonderful. He is not fat but built very sturdy. Really perfect and better for me since I have 15 grandchildren playing with him. Someday I hope to get another, maybe this one will be small. Rags turned out to be the largest of a litter of four. All the others were around 6 pounds. I will have to say that he is the prettiest (does that sound like a proud Mama)lol |

| I have a tiny pup and if I take him out, people do go kind of crazy but the other day I saw yorkie that had to be over 20lbs and that little porker was walking on the street like a rock star and his owner was like a smitten girlfriend. People were going nuts and stopping her to talk about him because he was really cool and mellow but the biggest yorkie you have seen! |
