| How about just being honest and saying no, but he/she is pure bred, if they are.

| no, when i got buddy i new he was akc !and when i got maddy i know she was ckc but when i started to send out papers i got to looking in to breeding at the same time just in case they did ! so when i found out that akc doesnt accept any dogs all ready register in another name {registery}they dont take them [accept] ! so i ask maddy, ckc and they do but u have to get his information from akc to send to ckc! so they can put it on file for if the do have a litter! so in the long run buddy is both akc and ckc and maddy is ckc and now i will be able to register a littler if they have 1! better safe then sorry!

| THanks, guys for all your response. I am going to wait and see if I get documents from a breeder by mail, then I shouldn't have a problem. It seems like mail must have gotten lost.

| Registration papers don't make your baby more "valuable" unless you are showing or breeding in which case they are very important. The true value of a pet is measured in love given and received. |

| If you aren't planning to breed or show, then registration is just a waste of money. No one will know or even care except you. |

| Since you do have an AKC-registerable pup, I would send for the papers. Dee already gave you the info you need to register even without that application from the breeder. She should have a record of the numbers you need. I would not register with places like ACA -- they are just making money for registering the birth. It really does not mean anything. With AKC you are contributing to some worthwhile canine programs with your fee. You are also getting some assurance of a pedigree, although it is still much dependent upon the breeder's integrity. Too many breeders flocked to the off-shoot registeries because they did not want to be held accountable to AKC. I would only go with AKC or Canadian Kennel Club (not the other CKC -- continental kennel club). But I am sure there are others that are loyal to something different. This is jmho.
