| Maybe I did misunderstand??? You were looking for a rationalization of how you could dress your dog up and not be criticized by others in your society? I guess I don't see it as funny, I see it as "awww how cute". On the flip side, I have seen people do things with their dogs that I personally think IS overboard. Maybe there is a fine line between what is funny and what is just cute. |

Also ...mine wear clothes in the winter to keep them warm - My little Cheri gets cold at night especially and sleeps much better in her jammies ... I understand different cultures - and can see your question - my grandmother dressed her poodle and I thought it was the silliest thing when I was a kid - now I realize she did it out of love and wanting to keep her baby warm in the winter... Why not start a new trend in Denmark ? you could have the first doggie clothing store there and probably make a fortune !

| I guess maybe in europe dogs just aren't dressed up as much as they are in the US and it can seem a little strange. Certainly when I first came to the site I regarded dressing up dogs as a little strange, but the more I see of them and the gorgeous clothes the more I regard it as cute and even wish I could dress up Lucy. The problem is Lucy hates clothes. We had to put a T shirt on her after her recent operation so she couldn't scratch her stitches and she went ballistic, in the end we had to take it off as she was so distressed. If she would tolerate it then I would love to dress her in all of the cute dresses and shirts etc, but as she hates it I see no point in putting her through it. I guess Ill have to stick to a cute harness and a posh collar By the way chloeandj I think your stuff is sooo cool, I love one of the cute little vest harnesses, is there any way you would ship to the UK??? Pretty please!!!! |

I look forward to seeing pictures if decide to dress up your fur baby. Also, me personally find that I NEVER care what people think when I dress up Schatzie. I am hoping this attitude of this might rub off onto you not caring either what other Danes think if they ever see your Yorkie in an outfit. Life is short - enjoy all the moments you can!!

| Quote: Because it makes me happy and Schatzie truly does seem to enjoy the one on one attention she receives. She often even jumps up on her pedestal for photo's after being dressed as she anxiously awaits for the opportunity for attention and praise. Ok...Schatzie has it right...you dress your dogs to make yourself happy...AND in many cases, the dog enjoys it, too. However, I do not think you should dress your dogs (at least for extended peiods) if they hate it. If they like the attention they get from it, then why not? Additionally, I see nothing wrong with comparing it to playing with dolls...how is this an insult? You dressed up dolls to make yourself happy...same with dressing Yorkies. I highly doubt that an Owner of a Yorkie who loves being dressed hates having to dress that Yorkie...someone had to dress the Yorkie for the first time to begin with in order to see if they like it...anyway, people are always going to judge, so if you and your Yorkie both like playing dress up then who cares what others think...more power to you! Oh by the way...YorkieGirl (oh, the irony)....you haven't been a grown woman for too awful long... |

| I love putting little tshirts and sweaters on my dogs. I quess it is kinda like playing dress up. They are so cute dressed up. Another big thing that people do here in America that is kinda funny is they have these lawn gooses in their yard that they dress up. I don't do that yet.

| Some people see dressing them up as an attempt to "humanize" our pets. Mojo is part of my family (a hairry part, i might add) and my baby boy I dress him up whenever i feel like it, Mojo loves the attention he gets from it and i would never force him to wear something he doesn;t want to...i also understand that he is a dog, no matter how smart and darn cute he is, it is a different specie and we have to put his needs first. Whether we dress them up or not, we should do for the right reasons..that my opinion!

| Maybe dogs are embarrassed to be walking around naked! Did you ever think of that?! Just kidding... I love to dress up my puppies - they don't seem to mind & I always put them in something if it's even a little bit chilly outside. They deserve nothing but the best - I'm jealous of their wardrobes!

| I remember a long way back I thought it was totally stupid to dress up a persons dog. I really thought why bother, and I thought the dogs themselves couldnt possibly like it. Then a few years later I decided I would love to own a yokrie, and for the strangest reason I loved the idea of dressing them up. I even told my husband when we got down to the wire I would be dressing up my dog, and dont complain about it. The best part is Bridget really does seem to love it, You can see a change when her clothes come out and she gets to put them on. She turns into super diva Bridget and watch out becasue she does have some additude...lol So I say go for it, try it out, like someone else mentioned maybe everyone is just to shy to do it to. You might start a new trend in your neck of the woods!

I actually have been meaning to post that I want to offer 20% discount to yorkie talkers. Suppose I should post this in the store list thread. I keep forgetting... If anyone wants to order something just pm me. Don't buy it out of my store. I'm not sure how to do the discount through ebay.
